Want to travel the world with your dog? Applications are now officially open for the first-ever dog-friendly cruise, hosted by Expedia Cruises of West Orlando and Margaritaville at Sea.
The inaugural voyage, called Cruise Tails, has room for up to 250 four-legged travelers. Human travelers should review the qualifications, protocols and tips as soon as possible, then fill out an application.
You’ll want to act fast, as cabins aboard the Margaritaville at Sea Islander are expected to fill up quickly. If necessary, a waitlist will be created.
“The enthusiasm and positive response we've received so far have been incredible,” says Steve Matzke, who leads Cruise Tails. “We’re thrilled to be able to provide such a unique travel experience where dogs are not just allowed, but celebrated as part of the family. This is more than just a cruise; it’s a chance to create lasting memories with your friends and family.”
The cruise will feature a wide variety of human- and pet-friendly amenities, including pet-friendly cabins—complete with a “pet butler.” Guests can also look forward to dog groomers, spa treatments for both humans and dogs, dog-friendly splash stations, theme parties, pre-cruise events and more.

I love kids, but it's tough for me to relax in a hotel full of them. Peaceful moments by the pool are often interrupted by splashing water. Occasional youthful screams in communal spaces startle me. And sunsets on the balcony may be accompanied by crying children and scolding parents in the room next door.
When Helga Crane, the main character in Nella Larsen’s novel “Quicksand,” walked through the streets of Copenhagen, people were amazed. “Her dark, alien appearance was to most people an astonishment,” wrote Larsen, an acclaimed Harlem Renaissance author. “Some stared surreptitiously, some openly, and some stopped dead in front of her in order more fully to profit by their stares.”

JetBlue Airways is redrawing its route network — and there is some good news for Europe-bound flyers.
I didn't grow up in a family that traveled. The first time I vacationed outside the US was on my honeymoon, and just a few years after getting married, our first child was born, significantly slowing down our travels. It's only been since my kids got older that I've been traveling to spots I've always wanted to visit, like Italy and Mexico's Baja California peninsula .
In 1922, at just 16 years old, Aloha Wanderwell – Idris Galcia Hal by birth – set out to become the first woman to circumnavigate the world in an automobile, a Ford Model T. The five-year expedition crossed 80 countries and more than 500,000 miles. The films created along the way tell the story of her journey – or at least, a part of what was certainly a life lived without limits.
