Low-cost Avelo Airlines is expanding its domestic and international network from Connecticut, giving travelers more flight options than ever.
For starters, traveling to the Dominican Republic will soon become more affordable with Avelo’s newest seasonal service between Hartford and Punta Cana. This route, offered alongside existing winter flights to sunny destinations like Montego Bay and Cancun, will operate twice weekly starting Feb. 21, 2025, and run through Labor Day weekend.
At Tweed-New Haven Airport, Avelo Airlines is set to launch several new domestic routes next year. Starting Feb. 14, 2025, the airline will introduce year-round service to Jacksonville International Airport (JAX), followed by Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) on March 7, 2025.
For the peak summer season, Avelo will add flights to Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport (DTW) starting April 4, 2025, and Portland International Jetport (PWM) beginning May 22, 2025. All these new domestic routes will operate twice weekly.
“With 39 route choices, Avelo offers Connecticut travelers more choice, affordability, and convenience than any other airline operating in the state,” the airline’s founder and CEO, Andrew Levy, shared in a statement with T+L. “Avelo’s purpose is to inspire travel, and we are very optimistic about the opportunities ahead of us to make air travel easier, more affordable, and more dependable for people across Connecticut.”
Historically, flight services at these two Connecticut airports have been limited. However, that changed in recent years with Avelo's growth alongside that of its competitor Breeze Airways.
All of these new flights can be booked on Avelo’s website, with one-way tickets starting at $39 (including taxes and fees) on a first-come, first-served basis.
This route expansion follows Avelo's recent announcement of a major network growth from North Carolina's Concord-Padgett Regional Airport (USA), Wilmington International Airport (ILM), and Raleigh-Durham International Airport (RDU) last week.

I've been going to my friend's lake house for more than two decades. Every year, my three closest friends from high school and I meet at the lake house for a long weekend, and when we started having children , we brought them along, too. It's really meaningful to induct the next generation into something that has become so special.
