Low-cost carrier Avelo Airlines is expanding flights from North Carolina, including adding two new international routes to Jamaica and the Dominican Republic from the Raleigh-Durham area.
The airline will add a total of seven new routes from the state of North Carolina next year, the carrier shared with Travel + Leisure, as well as set up two new bases in both Charlotte and Wilmington in 2025. The new flights will take off from a combination of Charlotte’s Concord-Padgett Regional Airport (USA), Wilmington International Airport (ILM), and Raleigh-Durham International Airport (RDU).
With the new flights, Avelo will fly a total of 27 nonstop routes from North Carolina.
“Our 27 nonstop destinations are just the beginning,” Avelo Airlines Founder and CEO Andrew Levy said in a statement shared with T+L, adding, “This means even more choice for travelers from across North Carolina while making it even easier for more people to visit the state from elsewhere across the East Coast and abroad.”
Starting Feb. 12, 2025, the airline will fly from Raleigh-Durham to Montego Bay, Jamaica, twice each week. Then on Feb. 22, the carrier will add flights twice each week from the North Carolina city to Punta Cana, Dominican Republic.
Then on April 3, 2025, the airline will add new flights from Wilmington to both Manchester, N.H., and Nashville, followed by flights to Rochester, N.Y. on April 4. Also on April 3, Avelo will add new flights from Charlotte to Daytona Beach in Florida, followed by flights from the city to Nashville on April 4.
Beyond North Carolina, Avelo said it plans to add new flights from Nashville to both Rochester, NY, starting April 3, and to Delaware starting May 1; as well as from Manchester, NH, to Myrtle Beach starting April 4.
To celebrate the new routes, which the airline plans to operate on Boeing Next-Generation 737 aircraft, one-way fares start at just $44 when travelers book by Dec. 10.
Avelo first launched in 2021 and operates a low-cost model, charging for things like seat assignments, checked bags, and carry-on bags. The airline first launched service to the Caribbean last year with flights to Puerto Rico, and started its first-ever scheduled international flights to Cancun and Montego Bay last month.
