At the end of 2023, Delta announced that it would start limiting the number of times American Express cardholders could access Delta Sky Clubs starting in February 2025. Now that we're a few days into February, these limits are officially in place.
In this post, we'll start by detailing Delta Sky Club access changes for Amex cardmembers. Then we'll discuss how to track your Delta Sky Club visits each year. Here's what you need to know.
If you have The Platinum Card® from American Express or The Business Platinum Card® from American Express, you get 10 Delta Sky Club visits per year. Meanwhile, if you have the Delta SkyMiles® Reserve American Express Card or the Delta SkyMiles® Reserve Business American Express Card, you get 15 visits per year.
With all four cards, each visit lets you access Delta Sky Clubs on arrival and during connections within 24 hours of your first Sky Club entry. However, if you visit a Grab and Go location, you must wait three hours before entering a Sky Club or using a Grab and Go location again in the same airport.
Amex Platinum, Amex Business Platinum, Delta Reserve and Delta Business Reserve access limits reset every year on Feb. 1. If you have multiple eligible cards, your visits stack. For example, if you have the Delta SkyMiles Reserve American Express Card and The Platinum Card from American Express, you'll get 25 visits per year by having both cards.
You can pay for extra visits for $50 each. However, you can enjoy unlimited Delta Sky Club visits for the rest of the current year and the entirety of the following status year if you spend $75,000 on your card in a calendar year. So, if you spend $75,000 on your eligible card this year, you'll have unlimited Delta Sky Club access (when traveling on eligible flights) through Jan. 31, 2027.
As before, you must fly Delta Air Lines the same day you plan to access the Sky Club. Specifically, you can access the Sky Club within three hours before departure if you plan to enter the Sky Club before your flight departs. You can access Sky Clubs with your eligible Amex card anytime during a connection and upon arrival. However, Delta basic economy tickets are not eligible for access. Finally, you'll need to pay $50 per person, per visit to bring guests with you into the Sky Club.
If you plan to downgrade or cancel your eligible Delta Amex or Amex Platinum this year, try your best to use your visits before changing your account. This will give you the most value from your card benefits. If you have multiple cards with access but plan on downgrading or canceling one of them, try to exhaust the visits from the card you plan to change or cancel first to leave the rest open for travel later in the year.

For fliers who haven’t encountered it before, SSSS on a boarding pass stands for Secondary Security Screening Selection. It’s the Transportation Security Administration’s method of selecting passengers for additional security checks. If the acronym appears on your ticket, it means you’ll be subject to an extra-thorough screening—despite having pre-approval through a Trusted Traveler Program such as Clear, NEXUS, Global Entry, or TSA PreCheck. This can extend the boarding process by 15 to 45 minutes (or longer), which is always frustrating if you’re running on a tight schedule.
