It was dark when I arrived in India, the air was slothful with a gluey viscosity. I was still in college and had never traveled this far away from home before.

It’s not exactly eliminating the middleman, but it’s a big assist.
The famed Casa de Campo Resort & Villas in the Dominican Republic has worked with American Airlines to bring a nonstop flight to nearby La Romana Airport. The resort is one of GOLF Magazine’s “Top 100 Golf Resorts in the World.”
The daily flight will originate at Miami International Airport, and the service begins on Thursday, December 5.
Fresh off celebrating its 50th Anniversary, Casa de Campo Resort & Villas is poised to become more accessible than ever. This American Airlines flight will join Sunwing in Canada that already operates a direct flight from Toronto into La Romana and will soon begin non-stops from Montreal on November 30.
“This new direct flight from Miami is essential to creating the desired level of ease to travel to our beloved resort,” says Jason Kycek, chief marketing officer of Casa de Campo Resort & Villas. “Casa de Campo has encourage more airlines to come directly to us.”
Golf is a huge draw, no pun intended.
Casa de Campo is home to a trio of acclaimed Pete Dye-designed golf courses: ‘Teeth of the Dog,’ ‘Dye Fore’ and ‘The Links.’ Since opening in 1971, Teeth of the Dog is widely recognized as the No. 1 course in the Caribbean, and, starting in January of 2025, it will undergo a restoration project led by Jerry Pate Design.
The project will involve a complete re-grassing, restoring greens to their original size, and reshaping bunkers to honor Dye’s design. The course is expected to reopen by December 2025.
The Dominican Republic has been booming with tourism lately.

New narrow-body planes designed for long-haul flights are changing how people fly.
Spirit Airlines is dialing up some cheap Black Friday fares with one-way flights starting as low as $25.
The average flight today from Kennedy Airport to LAX is slower than it was in 1995 in every conceivable way. Planes face longer delays leaving the gate; take more time taxiing before taking off; and spend more time in the air.
"Is it Gate 22 in Terminal 1, Terminal 5 or Terminal 8?"
Luggage is one of the most important purchases a traveler can make. It’s also one of the most expensive, especially if you’re adding more than one suitcase, duffel bag, or backpack to your collection.
All-business class airline La Compagnie is helping travelers get to Europe in comfort for less with its annual “Blue Friday” sale that has roundtrip flights for just $2,200.
If you hold elite status within the American Airlines AAdvantage program, you can now enjoy reciprocal benefits when flying to Ireland and beyond on Aer Lingus.
Planning a Europe trip through next spring just got easier, as TAP Air Portugal has just released bargain deals for economy and business class.
Savvy travelers have in recent years discovered one of the most helpful hacks while flying: using an Apple AirTag to keep track of checked luggage. The popularity of the quarter-size devices soared during the summer of 2022, when lost luggage was one of the lowlights among many other travel disruptions.
Talk about great timing. Just one day after budget carrier Spirit Airlines declared bankruptcy, fellow low-cost carrier Allegiant Airlines announced it tied a company record for the largest schedule expansion in history.
In a move that was not completely unexpected in the aviation industry, Spirit Airlines has declared bankruptcy.
