Frontier Airlines Is Giving Away a Year of Free Flights — How to Enter

Hilton and American Express have announced that they are donating 20,000 free hotel nights to residents displaced by the Los Angeles wildfires in partnership with local non-profit organization 211 LA. Ranked among the most destructive fires in California's history, the Eaton and Palisades fires have destroyed entire communities and forced hundreds of thousands of people to evacuate.

Two popular low-cost airlines are the latest to be held accountable by the U.S. government over chronically late flights.Southwest Airlines and Frontier Airlines are both facing legal actions by the Department of Transportation for operating flight schedules the government says were notoriously late. Frontier Airlines operated delayed flights between Atlanta and Phoenix, and Orlando and Houston over 63 times, and the airline will be responsible for a $650,000 civil penalty fine, with the opportunity for half of the fine to be waived if the airline doesn’t operate chronically delayed flights over the next three years, according to the consent order. 

The Department of Transportation filed a lawsuit against Southwest Airlines on Wednesday, accusing the carrier of "illegally operating multiple chronically delayed flights."

It just got easier to be a VIP at 30,000 feet. Frontier Airlines recently announced new benefits for members of its loyalty program, including a fast-track offer that helps travelers achieve Elite Platinum status with as little as 20,000 points.  The Denver-based carrier described the updates as «major enhancements» for their loyalty members, which will now include free advanced seat upgrades in both Premium seating, and UpFront seating. Frontier recently unveiled a First Class concept, and shared that it would also become available for complimentary upgrades later this year, according to the company’s release. Frequent flyers in the loyalty program will notices upgrades that clear 12 hours in advance of departure for Platinum members, and 4 hours in advance for Gold members.

The president visited California on Wednesday and later vowed that the federal government will cover 100 percent of the disaster assistance costs for California for the next 180 days.“I told the governor and local officials, spare no expense to contain these fires,” Biden said. “We’re doing literally everything we can at the federal level.”The president has sent 400 additional federal firefighters to the state and more than 30 firefighting helicopters and planes. Canada is also providing firefighting aircraft.While all of these measures and promises have brought comfort to California, Biden only has 11 more days in office. And President-elect Donald Trump has taken the opposite tact, roundly criticizing California officials for the fires and  spreading misinformation and falsehoods that have since been debunked.In addition to the Biden Administration, the travel industry has provided an outpouring of assistance and support for Los Angeles and its impacted residents.Local organizations such as the Hotel Association of Los Angeles and the Los Angeles Tourism and Convention Board are pitching in, as are international, national, and regional tourism industry operators including Airbnb, Delta Airlines, Internova, and Signature.
