TikTok has a special way of feeding you videos about products you probably don't need, but that might come in handy someday.
That was the case earlier this summer when I continuously saw videos about a backpack that influencers claimed was a travel "must-have." Videos of the bag, often posted with the hashtag #ViralTravelBackpack, have raked in 137 million views as of Monday.
A video posted on May 26 solidified my decision to buy the bag. In the video, TikToker @bmekween said she "cannot go on a trip without this bag," and gave a tour of the backpack's features. The TikTok has 4.3 million views as of Monday.
In June, with a trip to Paris coming up later that month. And while it ended up being too small to bring on my trip to Europe, I've used it on several smaller trips since — and have found it really is a great carry-on bag for short trips. Here's why.

The words “shirtless” and “official meeting” may not appear in the same sentence often, but trust AirAsia parent Capital A CEO Tony Fernandes to do things differently.
My trip to Jim Thorpe, a small Pennsylvania town often called the "Little Switzerland of America," was an afterthought, a brief stop on the way back to New York City the Sunday after a girls' weekend in nearby Long Pond. About two hours from the city, Jim Thorpe is an easily accessible day trip from Manhattan.
Having a mountain guide is a great way to explore the best runs a slope has to offer, but imagine if that guide was none other than legendary Olympic gold medalist Shaun White himself.
With its chic all-inclusives, flashy nightclubs and pricey waterfront restaurants, Cancún may feel at times like a playground for the rich, but it's surprisingly budget-friendly as well.
Auckland’s 1.6 million people are spread out across a large geographic area, in many distinct neighborhoods.
Southern California has a distinctive atmosphere. Sun, beach, ocean, and no shortage of experiences that get you out into all three make any trip to the state memorable. That’s seen perfectly in Oxnard at Zachari Dunes on Mandalay Beach, a Curio Collection Hotel by Hilton.
When I fly to Asia from the US, I try to choose flights that get me to my destination in the morning so I can power through the day and get over the jet lag quickly.
There are tons of travel essentials on sale during Amazon's fall Prime Day. In addition to great deals on luggage, noise-canceling headphones and a travel-friendly MacBook, you can save big on smaller items that can make your travels more comfortable, like a travel pillow.
A walk in the woods is not only good for you physically, it’s also good for you psychologically. Studies show time spent in nature reduces mental fatigue and irritability, cortisol levels, and stress.
The Grand Canyon sees around 5 million visitors a year for good reason: its grandeur is unlike any other place in the world. However, just a few hours away, there is another “canyon” national park that is smaller, much less trafficked, more colorful, and surrounded by distinct natural wonders. Bryce Canyon Country includes Bryce Canyon National Park, Grand Staircase Escalante National Monument, Capitol Reef National Park, Kodachrome State Park, and so much more in its 3-million-plus acres of protected lands. It’s the perfect Grand Canyon alternative for anyone who wants to see Utah’s natural splendor without the same level of crowds — Bryce Canyon sees about 2.5 million annual visitors, Capitol Reef about 1.5 million, and not even one million visit Grand Staircase Escalante National Monument every year.
Imagine waking up to gorgeous lake views surrounded by misty mountains and trees lining the horizon as far as the eye can see. That’s the magic of Jasper National Park, the largest national park in the Canadian Rockies, where I recently spent a cozy retreat to welcome the fall season. Coming from the scorching heat of Phoenix, Arizona, my lungs craved the crisp morning air, while the desert girl in me relished and autumnal mountain hues — and I soaked it all in from the private balcony of an alpine lodge on the shores of Pyramid Lake.
