Playa Hotels & Resorts N.V. confirmed on Monday that it had agreed to extend the exclusivity agreement with the Hyatt Hotels Corporation to 11:59 p.m. ET on February 10, 2025.
Playa and Hyatt previously announced the exclusivity agreement regarding discussions between the companies for potential strategic options, which may include the acquisition of Playa by Hyatt.
PJT Partners LP is serving as financial advisor to Playa Hotels & Resorts, and Hogan Lovells is serving as legal counsel.
Playa officials revealed no assurance that Hyatt will enter a definitive agreement for a potential transaction. The statement also said there “is no assurance as to the form, terms, or timing of any transaction even if an agreement is reached between the parties.”
Playa does not intend to comment further on the potential deal, unless and until it “otherwise deems further disclosure is appropriate or required.”
In December, Playa Chairman and CEO Bruce D. Wardinski released the following statement:
“Our Board and management team regularly review our structure, strategy and opportunities to enhance shareholder value, and we are pleased to enter into exclusive discussions with Hyatt regarding potential strategic options.”
“Hyatt's interest in our company is a testament to the strength of our business and the dedication of our incredible Playa team. The Playa Board and management team will remain open-minded and continue to act in the best interests of all Playa shareholders.”

How much would you pay to go to the Super Bowl?
When you hear about a company retreat, you might imagine traveling to an urban destination with massive hotel complexes just to sit for hours in windowless conference rooms and spend evenings schmoozing over room-temperature drinks. You probably don't imagine jetting off to a charming, nature-filled town along the Pacific Ocean.
The prick to my finger was fast and sharp, but my blood wasn't being drawn by a nurse. Instead, the outstretched arm of a cholla cactus was the culprit. I had come to California's Coachella Valley for Sensei Porcupine Creek's inaugural longevity-focused hiking retreat, and I'd been stabbed by the plant's barbed spine while furiously pumping my arms to keep pace with my group's extremely fit guide, Anthony Purnel, a tribal council member of the Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians.
We've officially entered February, which means romance is in the air. But if you haven't planned the perfect Valentine's Day adventure for you and your sweetheart, Vio, the travel deals website, has a few ideas. In January, the website revealed its list of the most romantic getaway destinations for couples. It came to its conclusion after surveying 1,007 Americans who identified as «in a relationship» about their past and future couple trips, along with their «disagreements, their budgets, destinations, and golden rules for traveling together.» After examining all the data, it named Yosemite the spot that helps couples «feel the most romantically connected.»
As winter's chill settles across much of the world, the allure of sun-drenched beaches and warm tropical breezes becomes irresistible.
Canadian charter airline Nolinor Aviation has agreed to buy an all-new aircraft type known as a "blended-wing body" as it expands beyond its all-Boeing fleet.
Feeling overworked, undervalued, and generally a bit frazzled? Then, it's time to start planning a wellness-focused getaway that will totally re-align you. And Book Retreats has just got the place to go. In December, Book Retreats released its Holiday Relaxation Report, which ranked the best relaxation destinations around the world, including a special focus on the top spots for wellness. To determine its rankings, the team created a seed list of 76 places, which it selected based on their «safety, solitude, serenity, nature, and wellness.» The team at Book Retreats then ranked those selections using nine data points, including the percentage of protected area, forest coverage, crowd density, noise and light pollution, peacefulness, and total wellness experiences. Finally, it gave each destination a score of 1 to 100 to reveal the top spots.

Over the last few years, Hyatt has been on a quest to revolutionize all-inclusive resorts — starting with bolstering its own all-inclusive portfolio by acquiring Apple Leisure Group in 2021 to add over 100 properties to the mix. Since that $2.7 billion takeover, Hyatt has finalized another deal with an all-inclusive resort company and launched new all-inclusive brands, such as the luxury Impression by Secrets brand and the lifestyle-forward Hyatt Vivid brand.
