American Express and Delta Air Lines are welcoming new card members with huge bonus mile offers this fall.
Travelers who sign up for a brand-new Delta SkyMiles American Express card by Oct. 23 can earn up to 110,000 bonus miles in the first few months of having their card, American Express shared with Travel + Leisure. The sign-up offers are available for several different cards from the Delta SkyMiles Gold card to the Delta SkyMiles Reserve card.
“As the season shifts, many are starting to think ahead about fall and holiday travel planning,” American Express wrote in a statement shared with T+L, adding, “Whether it’s traveling to see the leaves change in the Northeast, or to cheer on a favorite sports team, eligible new [card members] can earn this fall season by taking advantage of the limited-time offers.”
Loyal Delta travelers who sign up for a new card can earn bonus miles when they spend a certain amount within the first six months of getting the card. The total required spend varies by card.
This year, Delta increased the annual fees for its American Express credit cards, but also added a slew of new perks. Travelers who sign up for the Delta Platinum or Reserve cards, for example, will receive an annual companion certificate, which they can use for trips across the U.S., including to Hawaii and Alaska, as well as to Mexico, the Caribbean, or Central America.
And travelers who sign up for a Delta Gold card receive a $100 annual credit for Delta Stays, or the airline’s version of hotel and rental car bookings.
The changes also come as the airline overhauled its loyalty program, choosing to only count Medallion Qualification Dollars (MQDs) toward elite status.
