SLS Barcelona is slated to open this winter in the revitalized Port Forum district, a trendy waterfront area that has evolved from being a hub of industrial grit to a cultural hot spot. The property — which will feature 471 guest rooms and suites — will be the first European hotel for SLS Hotels & Residences, which opened its first hotel in Beverly Hills, California, in 2008. Since then, the brand has expanded to cities like Dubai, Miami and Cancun, Mexico.
SLS Barcelona will feature waterfront views of the Mediterranean, as well as private balconies and terraces in most rooms and suites. The hotel will have three swimming pools alongside six bars and restaurants. Dining venues include a tapas bar and a day-to-night pool club occupying what the SLS Barcelona team brags will be the largest waterfront rooftop bar in the city.
Guest rooms and suites are meant to have a combination of "luxe design and modern opulence," with oversized headboards and mirrored glass, timber accents, white marble and sculptural mirrors. Posh meets playful, one might say.
The hotel will be more than just an architectural gem of a backdrop for your next cocktail or fabulous meal out. SLS Barcelona will also offer a spacious wellness center so guests can stay on top of their fitness regimen; the spa is set to open at SLS Barcelona later in the opening winter season.

At a time when most airlines, budget or otherwise, are determined to make you pay through the nose for any piece of luggage you want to bring with you on a flight, Avelo Airlines, is going against the grain. Since May 25, 2024, Avelo, a US-based budget airline, lets adult passengers departing from Sonoma County Airport (STS) fly with one case of wine for free. As of September 16, 2024, however, the airline will be expanding its Wine Travel Free program to and from all its routes in the Western US.
