Alaska Airlines will launch two new flights to Anchorage this summer from the lower 48, making it easier to reach the Last Frontier.
Starting June 14, the airline will launch weekly roundtrip flights from Detroit and Sacramento, according to Alaska. Each of the flights will operate on Saturdays until Aug. 16 on a Boeing 737 aircraft.
“Summer is a tremendous time to visit The Great Land of Alaska with our long, warm days, tremendous culture and adventure, and amazing wild Alaska seafood. There’s so much to do around Anchorage, and the city is a perfect jumping-off point to venture out to communities across the state, as well as hopping on a cruise,” Marilyn Romano, the regional vice president of Alaska at Alaska Airlines, said in a statement. “For Alaskans, we now have even more nonstop destinations to visit family and friends this summer.”
In addition to the new routes, Alaska said it would resume nonstop service between Portland, Oregon, and Fairbanks in Alaska. That flight will resume on May 15 and operate daily through Aug. 19 on an Embraer E175 aircraft.
With these flights, Alaska will operate service to the 49th state from 15 destinations, including Chicago, Denver, Honolulu, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Minneapolis, New York, Phoenix, and more.
Kirsten Amrine, the vice president of network planning and revenue management at Alaska Airlines, said the new routes will “provide guests with more options than ever to vacation this summer in the great state of Alaska.”
Travelers who don’t want to wait until the summer can fly to Alaska now for epic ski turns and access free same-day lift tickets with their boarding pass, including at Arctic Valley Ski Area near Anchorage and at Eaglecrest Ski Area near Juneau.
