Canadian airline WestJet will significantly expand its transborder schedule by providing nonstop service to over two dozen U.S. airports.
Beginning in May and June 2025, WestJet will introduce summer seasonal flights and transition some routes to year-round service. Most notably, the airline will launch service for the first time ever to three new U.S. airports: Anchorage, Raleigh-Durham, and Salt Lake City.
The airline will inaugurate flights to Calgary (YYC) from Anchorage (ANC) twice weekly and from Raleigh-Durham (RDU) three times weekly in June. Around the same time, WestJet will launch a 4x-weekly service between Minneapolis and Calgary, the main airport in the province of Alberta. All three routes are scheduled to end just before the fall season.
From Edmonton International Airport (YEG), WestJet will operate a 5x-weekly service from Salt Lake City International Airport (SLC) — a first for the major Utah airport. In addition, the airline will add flights to Chicago International Airport (ORD) from Edmonton that operate on a 3x-weekly basis. These flights will operate seasonally from May to October.
WestJet also has plans to introduce summer seasonal service between Tampa International Airport (TPA) once weekly and Boston International Airport (BOS) once daily to Vancouver International Airport (YYZ).
«WestJet’s expanded summer schedule reflects our continued commitment to connecting Canadians by increasing our domestic and international capacity,” said WestJet’s executive vice president and chief commercial officer, John Weatherill, in a statement.
Several of WestJet’s popular winter seasonal routes will get a schedule extension to operate year-round. These existing routes include Tampa and Fort Lauderdale to Calgary, Orlando to Winnipeg, and Seattle to Kelowna.
Although WestJet isn’t part of any airline alliance, it has a key codeshare partnership with Delta Air Lines. The smaller Canadian airline can leverage Delta’s vast domestic network to offer travelers seamless connections onward to Calgary, Edmonton, and Vancouver on all of these new routes.
