Terminal 5 at John F. Kennedy International Airport is the airline' flagship terminal and this week it was announced that JetBlue is going to do a complete renovation. Changes to Terminal 5 will include art installations from more than 30 plus artists and a newly reimagined center concourse reflecting New York’s popular green spaces, including park benches and chess tables, as well as live performances.
The remodel will add more than 40 concessions that focus on locally-owned businesses and brands that will give the terminal’s visitors a taste of New York. Concessions will begin opening in 2025. The plans are aligned with the Port Authority’s planned $19 billion overhaul of JFK.
“When it opened, Terminal 5 set a new standard for customer-focused airport design that reflected our mission of bringing humanity back to air travel,” said Marty St. George, president of JetBlue in a statement released to Travel + Leisure. “Now, in support of the Port Authority’s plan to redevelop JFK, we look forward to further enhancing the experience for all who travel through this world-class terminal. This isn’t just about new dining and shopping—it’s about bringing the energy of New York into the terminal. From local flavors to spaces that capture the city we love, we’re making T5 more uniquely New York while staying unmistakably JetBlue.”

“I am thrilled to see this transformative project take flight,” said Congressman Gregory W. Meeks in a statement, “creating good-paying jobs, empowering small businesses, and driving economic growth while establishing JFK Terminal 5 as a state-of-the-art, world-class gateway.”
Terminal 5 opened in 2008 and expanded in 2014. Every day it serves more than 35,000 JetBlue customers on 165 flights.
