I’ve been mourning the loss of my AirPods (on a Eurostar train from London to Amsterdam—heartbreaking) for long enough now; it’s time I bite the bullet and invest in something new. As much as I loved my AirPods, I’m looking for something a little less easy to lose this time around, which is why the clip-on style of these earbuds appeal. As someone who has been dedicated to the same pair of Quiet Comfort headphones since 2017, I know Bose offers quality that lasts, and the small design means these will be easier to slip into my bag as I travel. The immersive sound design ensures I’ll be able to hear all the noise of a new city, without having to sacrifice my travel playlists. —Abigail Malbon, global audience development manager
Let this be the year I finally get a head start on my Christmas shopping. I’d like to gift someone on my list a pair of noise-canceling headphones—they’re perfect for travel, commutes to the office, and to wear to the gym. However, a good quality pair isn’t exactly cheap. Now feels like the best time to snag a top-selling pair, like these Apple AirPods Max headphones. —Meaghan Kenny, commerce editor
I have every possible suitcase I could ever need now, but something that’s missing from my repertoire is a quality backpack. I have a few exciting travel plans in 2025 (a trip to Mexico and my beloved Glastonbury festival) that require something more hardy than a rolling suitcase, so Cyber Monday seems like the perfect time to invest. When planning a trip, the first things to sort out are typically how you'll get there and where you'll stay. Once those foundational elements are locked down, you can get into the nitty-gritty of how you'll spend your days—and it's these activities that often become the core memories of a trip. Maybe there's a food market you're dying to roam through, or a concert the visit is planned around. Perhaps this trip is your chance to try a new sport, like surfing, or push your adrenaline further by skydiving. While looking back at our year in travel, we decided to poll our editors on their most memorable travel experiences of 2024, in hopes it'll inspire some of your future itineraries.
The best podcasts of 2024 were with us for the long haul. Our editors tuned into episodes when we were stuck in traffic on road trips, in airport lounges waiting out awkward layovers, on routine runs, and during feverish sick days or sleepless jet lag-driven nights. As we head into the new year, we're still coasting on the Golden Age of podcasting, which means there's plenty of shows to catch up on to make the dead time during your travels fly by. Whether you're on a mission to tick horseback riding in Wyoming off your bucket list, or sunbathing on a cruise deck while practicing how to lucid dream, some trips just feel better served with a side of wit or storytelling. Below, we've gathered ten of our favorite shows from the past year to get you started, including hilarious debriefs on hot gossip, long debates on pop culture hot takes, and intimate interviews with A-listers.
Planning a group trip can be exciting or paralyzing, depending on who you ask. There's a pressure to make everyone happy, both in the decision-making process, and during the vacation itself—but whether you're organizing for 3 or 13, trying to please a range of personalities is always going to be its own challenge.
Now in its seventh year, the annual TPG Awards celebrate the best in loyalty and travel, highlighting the airlines, hotels, credit cards and rewards programs changing the way we explore the world.
At first glance, New York City might not scream intimacy—reservations get booked up weeks out, open bar stools are snatched up in seconds, and dates squeezed into overpacked schedules. But it's the potential—the low-lit room, delectable shared dish and bottle of red—that pushes New Yorkers to fall head over heels, if not with their date, then at least with the restaurant itself. This city's dining scene brims over with romance, thanks to visionary restaurateurs who have mastered the art of ambiance.
If you'd told me a year ago that drinking sparkling wine by the pool of a millionaire's mansion would come courtesy of caring for a cockapoo, I'd have never believed you. Yet, for the past year, my partner and I have sustained a full-time traveling lifestyle through housesitting and have been living rent-free in Australia's High Country, England's picturesque Cotswolds, and Ireland's Wild Atlantic Way, to name just a few.
