The Fairmont Empress in Victoria has this week introduced its new “Into the Lavender Haze” collection of limited-edition guest experiences. The concept was designed to set the stange for an enchanting and romantic retreat on the property—whether guests are just stopping by or spending the night in the castle on the West Coast of Canada.
The exclusive guest experience comes at the heels of the Empress 1908 Indigo Gin going viral on social media when it became the “hit elixir for fans celebrating one of history’s most famous sold-out tours” according to a recent press release.
The Canadian property’s Into the Lavendar Haze experience consists of a lavish package that includes a two-night stay in a Fairmont Gold Suite. Guests will be greeted with pastel purple décor and soft lighting in order to evoke an instant sense of romance.
There will also be lavender-scented sachets throughout the room to further foster a sense of blissful relaxation. Guests will be welcomed with the Empress 1908 Signature Cocktail—called the Lavender Haze—and will also have the chance to sample a side of house-made lavender macarons.
Those looking to experience the Lavender Haze without saying overnight at the property can indulge in the romance at both Q Bar and The Veranda. The bar menus includes the popular and refreshing Lavendar Haze (which is made up on Empress 1908 Indigo Gin, lavender honey syrup, and homemade lemonade topped with lavender spring). There’s also the No Champagne Problems or the Empress 75 which can be upgraded with Veuve Clicquot upon request.
Guests looking to take their relaxation one step further will also have the chance to try the Lavender Dreams spa treatment at the Willow Stream Spa. The full body experience includes a body exfoliation and a lavender-infused massage.

You could say that Nia Vardalos—the actor, writer, executive producer, and director who introduced the masses to Greek and Greek-American culture via her My Big Fat Greek Wedding films—is most at home in the country of Greece itself. In fact, when she appeared on Zoom for her chat with Condé Nast Traveler, she called in from the rocky island of Hydra. “I realize that my bikini is literally drying on the windowsill,” she laughed about the view of her background.

An eastern peninsula swimming with history, culture, and a vibrant art scene, Halifax is much more than its caricatured seaside fishing town. While, yes, you’d be doing yourself a disservice to opt out of the fresh seafood and seascapes while you’re in town, there are also handfuls of world-class and drinking dining to be done in the city.
