In case you've been blissfully unaware of the shopping holiday mayhem that is Amazon Prime Day, let's get you up to speed: Amazon Prime Day is an annual 48-hour event that typically happens once a year, in which Amazon discounts thousands of products across every single category. Last year, Amazon offered the Early Access Sale—a second chance for shoppers to take advantage of Prime Day–like savings well before Black Friday—for the first time. As you can imagine, shoppers were eager to get a jumpstart on their holiday shopping. Amazon is bringing back its October savings event for a second time, albeit with a new name: Prime Big Deal Days. Tech and home sales tend to be the most popular during these events—and amount to the biggest savings—but we're also expecting to see discounts on clothing and shoes, luggage, beauty products, outdoor gear, and family travel essentials.
Mark your calendars: Amazon's second Prime Day of the year, officially dubbed the Prime Big Deal Days, will take place on Tuesday, October 10 and Wednesday, October 11.
Yes, you do have to be an Amazon Prime member to take advantage of these deals. Membership costs $14.99 per month or $139 per year (college students get a discounted rate), but you can sign up for a free 30-day trial here to try it out without committing to a full year. If you do keep your Prime membership account, you'll have access to same-day, one-day, and two-day shipping on millions of products, two-hour grocery delivery via Whole Foods, Prime's Try Before You Buy program, and more.
During Amazon's Prime Big Deal Days, you'll find a variety of can't-miss sales: Lightning Deals, which only run for a few hours; Deals of the Day, which run for one specific day; and Best Deals, which extend beyond the two-day sale. There will likely be deals on Amazon devices

Queenstown, New Zealand, wouldn’t be Queenstown if it weren’t far away from everything—more than three hours’ flight from the closet foreign city of Sydney, a long transpacific slog from the west coast of the U.S., a diabolically long distance from western Europe. (This part of the world is called the Antipodes for a reason.) But being tucked away in the snowy mountains at the bottom of the world is what gives it its character: It’s a cosmopolitan frontier town, full of ruggedly individualistic locals and generous transplants, ski bums and worldly chefs, shepherds and sommeliers.
Officials said a hiker who was injured in Grand Canyon National Park last weekend had been left behind by his friends after they called in a rescue for him — but the hiker in question says that's not at all what happened and that his friends have been "unjustly vilified in the media."

This is the place to experience Belle Époque architecture, a glamorous Casino and the Grand Prix. But you can also enjoy terrific museums, lovely gardens and a country with a deep commitment to sustainability. Below is a suggested itinerary that includes many of the country’s most beloved sites.

The Atacama Desert in Northern Chile has been a bit of a secret destination for those who love stargazing and other-worldly hiking terrains. It is home to ALMA, the world’s largest radio telescope and many hotels in the area have their own telescopes and guides to lead their stargazing experiences. This is also the place to climb sand dunes, indulge in hot springs and hike through salt flats and the aptly named “Moon Valley.” Awasi, a Relais & Chateaux property, has created the ultimate luxury oasis for those who want to explore this adventure destination with a more bespoke approach.
Everything about Las Vegas feels indulgent, from the glittering lights on the Strip to the cacophony of casino slot machines and all-you-can-eat buffets. However, perhaps nothing in Las Vegas is more indulgent than the luxury hotel suites that sit high above the Strip.
A couple who were caught having sex on a budget flight to Spain were greeted by police when they landed.
On a central downtown corner, a vast shop in a bright red historic building reflects the heart of Cheyenne, Wyoming. Of course, a cowboy hat is de rigueur here in the boundless West, and you could get lost for hours in The Wrangler. Ultimately, you’ll leave happy after your fitting for the cowboy chapeau of your dreams, and having watched a skilled hat shaper mold it into just the style you prefer. Their boot selection is endless and so too is the supply of sartorial gear that you hadn’t known you needed for the city’s annual Cheyenne Frontier Days.
With so much wilderness right on the doorstep, there's always something to do in Montana at any time of year. The state is highly in tune with the rhythms of nature, and activities vary with the weather and season.
Birch Selsdon, once an historic estate and golf course, covering 200 acres on the outskirts of London, is now a hip new hotel, a much anticipated followup to sister property Birch Cheshunt, which opened three years ago. It’s a great blend of classic and contemporary elements, providing a serene retreat, surrounded by natural beauty. Like the Cheshunt hotel, this peaceful escape from the city's hustle and bustle is a short drive or train journey from London but feels like the middle of the countryside once you arrive.
