7th UNWTO Global Conference on Wine Tourism in La Rioja, Spain to Explore Sustainable Future

According to the World Economic Outlook (WEO) Report, the global economy will grow an estimated 3.0% in 2023 and 2.9% in 2024. While this is higher than previous forecasts, it is nevertheless below the 3.5% rate of growth recorded in 2022, pointing to the continued impacts of the pandemic and Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, and from the cost-of-living crisis.

The next edition of the International Tourism Fair, FITUR, organised by IFEMA MADRID from 24 to 28 January 2024 at the Spanish capital’s trade fair centre,  continues to advance in its line of specialisation by helping to promote the different industrial sectors that have an impact on tourism and which have developed an entire tourism strategy around their activity.

To many European tourists, Malaga is simply the airport gateway to the sunshine, glorious sandy beaches, and cheap cocktails of Spain’s Costa Del Sol. While it doesn't have the touristic fame of other historic Andalusian cities like Granada or Sevilla, Malaga deserves more attention with its blend of history, culture, and modernity.

What do you think when you hear the word ‘Spain’? For many, the answer is the sunshine, the architecture, the tapas—and, of course, the wine. Oh the wine! And while Spain produces some excellent dry whites and fantastic sparkling cava, what really stands out is the quality of its reds.

The Spanish island of Mallorca may not be the obvious choice for a festive getaway, but this holiday season is looking more magical than ever at newly reopened Grand Hotel Son Net.

I put myself on my first diet when I was 8 years old. My childhood and teen years are littered with memories of restriction and self-judgment. It's not hard to imagine how I developed an eating disorder, or ED. I struggled with restriction, bulimia, binging, and other disordered-eating behaviors for years. Thanks to my privileged access to therapists, psychiatrists, and help from loved ones, I've been in eating disorder recovery for the last 10 years.

At a press conference during World Travel Market 2023, the newly elected President of the Balearic Islands, Marga Prohens, together with the new Minister of Tourism for the Balearic Islands, Jaume Bauza Mayol, unveiled the future tourism strategy for the archipelago (which comprises of Mallorca, Menorca, Ibiza and Formentera).

“We are resolute in Calvia’s tourism transformation, to spread the benefits throughout the year for both locals and visitors”, says Mayor of Calvia, Juan Antonio Amengual, on day one of World Travel Market.

From January up until the end of September 2023, Spain received 66.5 million international arrivals, up 18.8% year-on-year, and 0.6% below pre-pandemic levels in 2019. The main inbound tourism markets were the United Kingdom, representing around 13.8 million arrivals, France with almost 9.4 million arrivals and Germany, with almost 8.5 million arrivals. By Autonomous Communities (or regions), from January to September (inclusive), Cataluña received the most international visitors with almost 14.2 million arrivals, followed by the Balearic Islands.
