The Bishop’s Palace is one of the most beautiful and remarkable buildings in Malaga. This landmark will surely appeal to those tourists who are interested in the history of religion. The fact is that the palace houses the Sacred Art Museum of Malaga.
This Baroque building appeared in Malaga in the 18th century. The palace is distinguished by its unusual architecture – there are many stairs, balconies, and all kinds of passages. Interestingly, the very first Bishop’s Palace was built much earlier – back in 1500-1525. However, after a couple of decades, the building turned out to be too small. Then in 1541, Bishop Fray Bernardo Manrique decided to build another palace, and its towers connected by a whole gallery of arches have survived to this day.
A little later, in 1558, the chief architect of the palace, Diego de Vergara, took up the arrangement of the courtyard. Besides, he expanded many rooms. Over time, the Bishop’s Palace underwent many changes. It acquired its modern look in 1756. At that time, the construction was led by the architect Antonio Ramos. It is worth noting that the palace became his main project. Antonio Ramos was engaged in the construction of the Bishop’s Palace until his very death in 1782. After that, Jose Martin de Aldehuela took up the matter. It was he who supplemented the Bishop’s Palace with a stone balustrade that crowned the building. As a result, the palace acquired a stunning appearance and became one of the architectural masterpieces of the city. Today the Bishop’s Palace occupies a rather large area along the streets of Santa Maria, Salinas, and Molina Lario.
The facade of the palace includes three floors, interconnected by paired pilasters. Of course, first of all, everyone is impressed by the stunning main entrance in the Baroque style. Outwardly, it resembles an altar. There are pink columns on each floor. An interesting detail: the higher the floor, the more columns. Also, be sure to pay attention to the balcony and shields located above the front door. The third floor is decorated with a sculpture of the Virgin of Las Angustias, made of alabaster. The author is Fernando Ortiz.

Currently celebrating its 10th anniversary, the property unveiled a $36 million expansion last week, including a lavish spa, a chic Café, and 71 additional rooms, totaling 183 guestrooms. To many European tourists, Malaga is simply the airport gateway to the sunshine, glorious sandy beaches, and cheap cocktails of Spain’s Costa Del Sol. While it doesn't have the touristic fame of other historic Andalusian cities like Granada or Sevilla, Malaga deserves more attention with its blend of history, culture, and modernity.

What do you think when you hear the word ‘Spain’? For many, the answer is the sunshine, the architecture, the tapas—and, of course, the wine. Oh the wine! And while Spain produces some excellent dry whites and fantastic sparkling cava, what really stands out is the quality of its reds.
Forget underground vaults filled with cash — the next high-tech ‘Ocean’s Eleven’ caper in Las Vegas may be breaking into the dry-aging room below the new Peter Luger Steak House at Caesars Palace. “There’s well over one million dollars of prime steaks in that locker,” says Daniel Turtel, Vice President of Peter Luger Steak House. “Though it would be a lot harder to walk out of the casino carrying 35lb. short loins than stacks of chips.”
