The long-awaited third season of Netflix’s hit romance period drama Bridgerton is unveiled today (May 16), and fans of the series can now not only binge on the bodice-ripping romantic intrigues, opulent outfits, glamorous balls and lavish sets of the Regency era but also plan a trip to discover the locations around Britain where the smash-hit series was filmed.
While this whimsical drama from Shonda Rhimes, based on Julia Quinn's bestselling romance series, “is set in the competitive world of Regency London during the season when debutantes are presented to the court,” Netflix explains, “the filming of it actually spanned a lot further than its borders.”
In season 3, the spotlight shines on the romance between Colin Bridgerton (portrayed by Luke Newton) and Penelope Featherington (portrayed by Nicola Coughlan).
The other good news ‘Dearest Gentle Reader’, as goes the famous phrase from Lady Whistledown, is that most of the quaint small towns, stately homes, beautiful castles and Georgian-era streets that appear in this season are open to the general public and already welcoming many visitors.
According to the rail booking platform Trainline, the ‘Bridgerton effect’ on travel is clear as bookings have risen more than 50% to some of the best-known locations — and many of those visitors are Americans.
The choices are vast and varied, from famous palaces and mansions in London and historical Bath, where much of the filming takes place, to York’s home in beautiful Yorkshire of the Duke of Hastings and the many stately homes and manicured parks in Bristol, Surrey and Hertfordshire.
Grab your bonnet, order your carriage (or your flights) and get ready to explore the grand country houses, pretty parklands and most iconic sets appearing in the new season of Bridgerton.
Lets start with London:
The exterior London home of the Bridgerton family (said to be on Mayfair’s Grosvenor Square) is, in fact, the elegant Ranger’s House, located west of Greenwich Parkin southeast London.
The Georgian mansion, with blooming cherry blossoms framing the avenue that arrives there and lovely wisteria adorning the building’s facade, is an art museum run by English Heritage and houses a world-class art collection, including medieval sculptures, ornate jewelry and fine French tapestries.
Hampton Court Palace is a Tudor palace in red brick and an immaculately-coiffured garden that has been used to stand in for both Buckingham and St James Palace in the series. It also appears in season three as the location of a ball.
It is a Grade I listed royal palace in the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames, 12 miles southwest and upstream of central London.

It started with my own wedding here in New York City, followed by a honeymoon in Paris, and the chance to catch the first night of the European leg of Taylor Swift's "The Eras Tour." I then immediately joined a wonderful retreat with TPG's travel team in Washington, D.C.
