Regent Seven Seas Cruises has announced that Elon Musk's famous high-speed satellite internet constellation, Starlink, has been successfully installed on board the Regent Seven Seas Mariner.
Just in time for Regent's World Cruise setting sail in January 2024, it will enable passengers to surf, stream, and share like never before at sea.
Andrea DeMarco, President of Regent Seven Seas Cruises, says, "Unlimited WiFi is part of the truly all-inclusive Regent experience and, as with every element on board, we want to ensure our guests are receiving the best of the best with new and innovative technology.
Not only will luxury travelers be able to share their unforgettable moments in real-time, but the increased bandwidth provided by Starlink will also improve onboard services and operational needs – these elements coming together to provide an unrivaled experience for our discerning guests, as well as our talented crew.”
Using advanced low Earth orbit (LEO) satellites, Starlink will improve the capacity, speed, and reliability of onboard internet.
Internet connectivity for guests and crew will also be upgraded on board Regent’s newest ship, Seven Seas Grandeur, with the installation of SpaceX’s Starlink high-speed internet before its launch in November.
All six ships in the Regent fleet are expected to be equipped with Starlink by the end of 2024.
