The start of a new year means new beginnings and new opportunities. That includes new beginnings for your American Express shopping credits and new opportunities for purchases that might have $0 out-of-pocket costs to you.
Specifically, I'm referring to the annual Saks Fifth Avenue credits on The Platinum Card® from American Express and Dell shopping credits on The Business Platinum Card® from American Express. Enrollment is required in advance for these benefits.
Let's look at how to use your renewed balance of shopping credits for the year ahead.
The Amex Platinum Card offers up to $100 in annual statement credits for purchases from Saks Fifth Avenue. This is available when shopping online or in person and comes in the form of up to $50 in credits from January to June and up to $50 in credits from July to December each year.
To use this benefit, you must enroll your card in advance through this direct registration link. You must enroll prior to making any purchases to receive the shopping credits.

Make sure to stack this credit with online shopping portals to earn bonus cash back or miles. Also keep an eye out for any sales or coupons Saks is offering, along with Amex Offers.
If you frequently shop at Saks, this statement credit will come in handy. Even if you don't, it's easy to find a few items that cost no more than $50. When you search the sale section, you can sort specifically for items that are less than $50.
If you have the Amex Business Platinum Card, you can receive up to $400 in statement credits for Dell purchases each year. To qualify, the purchases must be made in the U.S. and you must enroll for the benefit in advance through this direct registration link to receive the shopping credits.
This benefit is available as up to $200 in statement credits from January to June and up to $200 in statement credits from July to December each year. And it doesn't have to be a computer, either. You can even use your Dell credits for a new carry-on bag, speakers or gaming gift cards.

Again, use shopping portals to maximize this purchase by adding extra points, miles or cash back on top of your purchase and the statement credits you'll receive from American Express.
A new year means your credit card's annual credits may have reset. Among the more popular and easy-to-use options are Dell and Saks Fifth Avenue credits available each calendar year from American Express.
You'll want to use up these statement credits no matter which card you have, as they are "use it or lose it" benefits that won't roll over to the second

If you're interested in earning more rewards on everyday purchases, you might want to start using — or using more frequently — dining rewards programs. While many travelers are familiar with online shopping portals, fewer are familiar with dining rewards programs. In short, dining rewards programs let you earn extra points or miles when you use an enrolled card to pay at select restaurants, bars and clubs.
