VisitorsCoverage Partners with One Tree Planted

As The Philippines faces a deforestation crisis so severe it could be deforested by 2025, VisitorsCoverage, a global travel insurance marketplace, is compelled to aid reforestation efforts. The new initiative is an extension of their partnership with One Tree Planted, a non-profit organization that partners with businesses to plant trees all over the world. Climate change is caused in major part by an overabundance of Carbon Dioxide. Trees are the single best way to reduce CO2 because they breathe it in and convert it to oxygen. Without trees, the Philippines will see a rise in deadly heat waves, floods and mudslides. The disappearance of trees has also been linked to soil erosion and contaminated water.

As Amsterdam bows out, what will be the new capital of cannabis tourism?

Amsterdam has dominated cannabis tourism for 40 years, but now it’s stepping back from this multibillion-dollar industry, creating opportunities for emerging marijuana destinations in Asia, Africa, and the Americas. New rules in the Dutch city’s central tourist area limit alcohol sales, require bars to close earlier, and impose a €100 ($107) fine for public marijuana smoking.

What Makes St. Michaels, Maryland An Ideal End-Of-Summer Weekend Getaway

Many people lament Labor Day weekend as the unofficial end of summer, but the autumnal equinox isn’t until September 23. Meaning: there’s no reason to panic and rush through the season. You have plenty of time to soak in the sun and warmth, and if the past years are any indication—you’ll be able to enjoy what feels like summer well into October.

I've lived in Southern California for more than a decade — here are 15 things anyone from here knows to be true

Born in Southern California and then lured back after college, I've spent more than a decade here — first southeast of Los Angeles and now northeast. I've traveled all across the region, down to the border of Mexico and up to San Francisco, journeying through our deserts, forests, beaches, and mountains.

Volcanic peaks and stunning views: why cycling is booming on tropical Réunion

Snaking into the hazy horizon, a hulking concrete-and-steel structure coils around Réunion’s north shore. Thrust skyward on enormous girders rising from this Indian Ocean island, which lies between Mauritius and Madagascar’s east coast, we’re cruising along the Nouvelle Route du Littoral — an ambitious 7.5-mile highway, built metres from the craggy coastline of steep cliffs that is ordinarily too dangerous to skirt far below.

What If Marriott Had Bought Disney

In the Christmas classic “It’s a Wonderful Life,” the James Stewart character George Bailey sees how life would change had he never been born. That’s a fantasy, of course, but like George Bailey, I began imagining recently while watching the Walt Disney Company’s latest leadership drama unfold how a company’s timeline could be altered under a different scenario.
