Marriott announced changes to its partnership with Uber on Tuesday, including devaluing riders' points-earning potential while adding new yet less-than-worthwhile perks.
As of Oct. 14, the Marriott Bonvoy points-earning threshold for Uber spending is lowered as follows:
There is also one additional earnings opportunity beginning Oct. 14. Specifically, you'll earn 2 points per dollar spent on UberX Reserve rides.
Marriott is also offering Silver Elite status to annual Uber One members; this status tier is just one level above being a basic Marriott Bonvoy member. Silver Elite status holders get a 10% points-earning bonus on stays and eligible hotel purchases and late checkout based on availability. Those aren't bad perks but aren't anything to get too excited about. Remember that holding some Marriott Bonvoy credit cards gives you Gold Elite or even Platinum Elite status.

The final new feature is that customers can book an Uber Reserve ride in the Marriott Bonvoy app during their stay. To participate in this partnership, users must link their Uber and Marriott Bonvoy accounts here.

It's that time of year again: Time to use any credits that will expire at the end of the year, plan any last mileage runs or mattress runs for elite status and start thinking about your points-and-miles strategy for next year. It's also a good time to see what loyalty program and credit card changes are happening next year.
For me, September is a hard one to see go. With it, those last little moments of summer slip away, the temperature starts to change and it's time to start pulling out your warm coats. My September was especially great, though. It started with cruising around the Mediterranean and checking out a few dreamy hotels in Italy, followed by a quick trip to Mexico to check out Hyatt's new all-inclusive brand.
There’s never a wrong time of year to visit the Berkshires, the mountainous stretch of western Massachusetts located just 140 miles north of New York City. You can thank the fall’s vibrant display of foliage, summer’s Tanglewood music festival that draws crowds from all over the world, and a steady tide of new hotel openings to take advantage of as cozy winter getaways and for ski season. The region also has strong roots as an artists community, with a robust community of galleries, independent boutiques, and museums. And for city dwellers looking to stretch their legs, the Berkshires is also home to scenic hiking trails and winter slopes for every activity and ability level.
