When I was a kid, one of the highlights of my grandmother’s visits was that we’d always go to Nordstrom to get a fancy snack at the cafe and browse the shoe section. Channeling those memories, when I moved out on my own, the department store became my go-to place for footwear of any kind, including my college go-to's, Converse Jack Purcell (which Nordstrom still carries).
Needless to say, there was no more exciting time of year than the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale, happening this year from July 15 to August 4. Card members get early access depending on their status with The Nordy Club.
While items of every category are marked down to some of the lowest prices of the year (you can find more of our Anniversary sale recommendations here), the wide selection of shoe deals makes it one of the best departments to shop. Plus, summer is a great time to stock up on all kinds of footwear—sandals for beach vacations, dress shoes for business trips and destination weddings, walking shoes for urban adventures, sneakers to start training for that fall marathon, and boots for the upcoming seasons.
The best part is the wide range of brands this year’s sale encompasses, from Vince and Stuart Weitzman to Adidas and Hokas, and even Frye, Ugg, and Crocs. Below, some of the best shoe deals for travelers to shop during Nordstrom’s biggest sale of the year.
For any kind of trip, some kind of sneaker will probably be on your packing list. Perhaps it’s a comfy pair of shoes to squeeze in some sightseeing while traveling on business, like the Rag & Bone or Boss pairs on sale. Maybe it’s something you can easily slip on and off during airport security checks, like the Vince or Dolce Vita. And these days, with white sneakers being so versatile, perhaps it’s going for classic Adidas or Cole Haan.
There’s something special about getting to know a new destination by walking or running. Somehow pounding the pavement creates an implicit bond with a place. Whether you decide to go for a morning run as the city wakes up, hike some local trails, or simply get those steps in by exploring on foot, these sneakers—all specifically designed for running—will help you go the distance pain-free. This year’s sale includes popular picks for both women and men from favorite brands like Asics, Hoka, Nike, and On.
While we’re still enjoying flip-flop weather, autumn will be here sooner than we think, so now’s the time to snag that deal on a pair of comfy travel boots. From waterproof boots from Hunter and Sorel and Chelsea boots from Vince and La Canadienne, and even a pair from Vionic with its famous arch-support, get ahead of the season with fall footwear now.
