Marriott International revealed details to Skift on Monday about its newest hotel brand — temporarily named Project Mid-T — in the “midscale” hotel category. The hotel giant said the new brand is primarily aimed at developers converting existing hotels rather than new construction and is meant to appeal to travelers worldwide.
Silversea Takes Delivery of its Newest Ship, Silver Ray

Silversea has taken delivery of its newest ship, Silver Ray.
The vessel was constructed at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg, Germany. In late April, the ship traveled 24 miles along the River Ems to complete technical and nautical sea trials in the North Sea on May 8.
Several cruise line executives boarded the vessel for a celebratory handover event in Eemshaven on May 14, including Jason Liberty, Royal Caribbean Group president and CEO; Bert Hernandez, president of Silversea; Alessandro Zanello, captain of Silver Ray; Bernard Meyer, chairman of the Meyer Group; and Bernd Eikens, CEO of the Meyer Group.
“Delivering the best vacation experiences responsibly is at the heart of everything we do,” said Liberty. “We are fortunate to have the best people working together to dream and create unforgettable experiences for our guests, including the Meyer Werft shipyard team, whose partnership has enabled us to continue pushing boundaries.’’
Silver Ray is the second vessel in Silversea’s Nova Class, joining sister ship Silver Nova. The vessel will make her maiden voyage from Lisbon on June 15 and spend her inaugural season in the Mediterranean. The ship will spend the winter in the Americas starting in December.
“In addition to being one of the most energy efficient ships ever built, Silver Ray's game-changing, outward-facing ship design enables greater access and connection for our guests to the incredible destinations we visit,” said Hernandez. “I can’t wait for our guests to experience everything this remarkable ship has to offer.”
