From the rooftop pool deck of the Kimpton Sawyer in Sacramento’s Downtown Commons (DOCO) mall, I gazed down at a crowd of hyped-up circus fans buzzing around Golden 1 Center. Home to the Sacramento Kings basketball team, the arena also hosts concerts and special events like the Greatest Show on Earth, which happened to be in town during my visit.
Airbnb compiled its report of the most wish-listed stays in every US state so it’s time for a road trip with some epic accommodations. This road trip that connects the most wish-listed Midwest Airbnbs starts in North Dakota and heads south before turning north again and then back south, a rollercoaster of a road trip that’s even better than the crazy rides at Cedar Point.
My dad is from a small town in Massachusetts and has never been much for travel, but his eyes lit up like a child’s when I told him I was headed to Stuttgart, the capital of the German state of Baden-Württemberg in the Swabian region of southwestern Germany. A lifelong car buff, pop knew Stuttgart as the headquarters of Mercedes-Benz and Porsche. Driving me to the airport, he gushed about the legendary car museums in his coarse Boston accent: “Christalmighty, Johnny Boy, you’ll see the most gawgeous Muhcedes and Pawsches evah made!” I could only imagine otherwise-polite Germans shuddering at his pronunciation of their cherished automobile brands (but I kept that to myself).
One of TPG's most anticipated hotel openings of the year is finally here with the arrival of Regent Santa Monica Beach, a return to the U.S. for the ultraluxury hotel brand.
There are now millions of reasons to book your next vacation. Frontier Airlines recently announced a new fare sale that discounts over two million seats on the airline, with tickets as low as $19. Described as the airline's «biggest sale of the year», the promotion offers travelers deals to popular destinations such as Atlanta, Denver, Las Vegas, Orlando, and more. The sale is valid on travel for select days throughout December 18, 2024, and ends at 11:59pm EST on October 17, 2024. Travelers should carefully review the sale's terms and conditions, as there are several restrictions of when and where travelers can get the discounted tickets. For example, most fares are only valid on flights Tuesday, Wednesday, and Saturday. The $19 promotional fare is only available to members of Frontier's Discount Den program, which costs $59 a year and includes perks such as access to special sales, and free flights for children. Travelers who are not a member of the program can still save on fares, with the average non-member fare at $39. Travel + Leisure spotted a variety of flight deals for fall travel including:
A few times a year, Airbnb releases a series of updates that change how we interact with the home-sharing app.
As a teenager who lived in a small town, I became obsessed with travel, collecting piles of books written by authors who'd traversed the globe under their own steam. I vowed to do the same and got a job at a bookshop to pay for it. There's nothing like working all hours to make you appreciate money, and I vowed not to waste a cent when I did get to see the world.
For years, my 8-year-old son has said he wants to be a master builder for The Lego Group. So many of our bedtime stories were about Legoland, and I wanted to take him there as badly as he wanted to visit. It reminded me of visiting SeaWorld as a teenager and being inspired to study marine biology.
Sharjah, one of the seven emirates in the UAE, is less than an hour from the super-modern Downtown district of Dubai. But unlike Dubai and other emirates, Sharjah is focused on becoming the national center of cultural tourism – it favors tents, camps and eco-resorts over mega-structures.
Daniela Jacobs, the founder and designer of Arc, a line of minimalist jewelry and home goods, is perhaps best known for her porcelain creations in shades of ecru and eggshell. But in 2018, a translucent organza garment that Jacobs created for a photo shoot led to such an unexpected swell of purchase inquiries that she decided to create a handful of one-of-a-kind garments to sell, titling it her Invisibles collection. Now, after 10 years in business, Jacobs is releasing a new batch of designs that explore the concept of invisibility with Arc Glass, a limited-edition capsule of rings, bangles, candle holders and plates made of borosilicate glass. In addition to pieces that are completely see-through, a handful of the designs are rendered in black, as well as a smoky hue that changes in different lights. “It almost has a turquoise tint to it, which feels right to me because of the Mediterranean vibe,” says Jacobs, who splits her time between New York and Majorca. As with her porcelain pieces, Jacobs’s glass creations require a bit of mindfulness when worn, but she insists that they’re made for everyday use. “I wear them on the subway. I wear them biking. I wear them when I’m in Spain. When I go to the sea, I take them off and put them on a rock; I come back, they’re fine,” she says.
