It's official: There's a new record-setting giant in the cruise world.

Norwegian Cruise Line has opened reservations for its upcoming Norwegian Aqua sailing in April 2025. And if you love big amusement park-like ships, this could be a great vacation option.
At 156,300 gross tons and a double occupancy capacity of over 3,570 guests, this upcoming vessel won't be as large as the giant family-friendly cruise ships Royal Caribbean has been churning out — or even top the list as Norwegian's largest vessel.
However, the Aqua is still set to have several eye-catching activities — a 10-story dry slide, a joint sports court and nightclub with LED-lit flooring, and an outdoor game space, for example.
But of all these amenities, likely none will be as visually striking as the Aqua Slidecoaster. According to the cruise line, this will be the first three-story, two-course, "hybrid" roller coaster and water slide at sea. While unique and likely to be a sure hit with younger guests, the ship's tubular snake-like crown looks more like a theme park ride than a cruise ship amenity. And I'm sure that's the point.
According to Norwegian's renderings, the exterior of the ship will be adorned with a chaotically bright design created by the cruise line's "first-ever major female hull artist." While hard to miss, it'll undoubtedly make this ship look more youthful and theme park-like than orderly and prim.
Size aside, the Norwegian Aqua looks like it'll be just like Royal Caribbean's wildly hyped upcoming Icon of the Seas — overwhelming, colorful, family-friendly, and amusement park-like. But that's not bad news for Norwegian. If the Aqua becomes as big of a hit as the Icon, it's bound to sell well: Royal Caribbean has repeatedly called its upcoming behemoth vessel its "best-selling" ship ever.

If you're not careful, you could easily blow past the base fare of your cruise vacation.
A year has passed since I first sailed on Royal Caribbean's massive Wonder of the Seas.
Southampton, with its centuries-long history as a maritime hub for England, is often referred to locally as the ‘Gateway to the World’. Its strategic position on the southern coast of England boasts a deep-water harbor that has served as a crucial departure point for a vast range of ships, from historic trading vessels to the Titanic in 1912.
Atlas Ocean Voyages’ new World Voyager yacht has officially joined the fleet, following a naming ceremony in Ushuaia, Argentina.
It’s election night across America. And for restaurants, it was also a big night of awaiting results.
The demand for travel is best exemplified by the popularity of taking a cruise right now.
With amenities like an onboard water park, seven pools, and a waterfall, Royal Caribbean's upcoming Icon of the Seas is set to be one of the most attention-grabbing cruise ships on the market. But if you're a fan of affordable vacations, no onboard feature will make your jaw drop more than the price of a vacation on this vessel.
I spend half of my year living on a cruise ship for free.
A 41-year-old man fell overboard early Friday morning while on a heavy-metal-themed "Headbangers Boat" cruise, according to Miami news outlet WTVJ.
When compared to American resort ships or the ‘cheap and cheerful’ European lines, British cruise lines may seem traditional to the point of outdated. But one line, P&O Cruises, is undergoing a transformation as bigger ships join its fleet.
Throughout the last two years, I've spent at least one night on six ships all with different cruise lines. While they've all varied in prices and target demographics, one has stood out as my clear favorite.
