A major glow-up at Wyndham Grand Rio Mar Rainforest Beach and Golf Resort in northeastern Puerto Rico is slated for the next several months.
The LionGrove-owned property — which TPG considers one of the best Wyndham resorts in the world — will undergo a full renovation to all 400 of the resort's guest rooms, as well as its 10 dining outlets, lobby, pool and nightlife venues. The renovation is expected to be completed over the course of three "unveilings," beginning in December.
The end-of-year reveal will include two new pools, new cabanas and a refreshed lobby and arrival area. The second unveiling, slated for early next year, will include the new guest room and suite designs and a new all-day cafe. The last of the renovation rollout — expected in the fall of 2025 — will include three new restaurants, a new Xplorers Club for immersive experiences inspired by surrounding El Yunque National Rainforest, a new racquet center and other new wellness offerings.
"We are ushering in a new chapter for the resort. We're not just surrounded by the breathtaking beauty of the rainforest and ocean; we're integrating it into every aspect of the guest experience," Amadeo Zarzosa, senior vice president of operations of LionGrove and general manager of Wyndham Grand Rio Mar Rainforest Beach and Golf Resort, said in a statement. "The transformation of the resort will reinforce to both visitors and locals that something truly special is in Rio Grande."
The Wyndham Grand resort also features two golf courses, has one of the largest ballrooms in the Caribbean and is situated along 2 miles of secluded beach next to El Yunque National Rainforest and the Mameyes River. The revamped resort will be a great place for those seeking a sunny getaway, a meeting in paradise or a dose of Puerto Rico's natural beauty thanks to the Xplorers Club, which can arrange kayaking down the Mameyes River or stargazing, among a variety of other activities.
Rates at the renovated resort, which are available beginning next February (when the guest room refurbishment is expected to be completed), start at $435 or 30,000 Wyndham Rewards points per night.
