Summer travel 2024, with its record-breaking crowds, is set to reach a fever pitch over Labor Day Weekend. The busiest summer season in recent history is set to end with a bang, as a historic number of people are expected to take to the roads and skies.

While most tourists to Kenya are ultimately heading to Maasai Mara for a safari, truly savvy travelers know that the best things to do in Nairobi are plentiful, making it a capital city that deserves its own dedicated trip. It’s a dynamic city with stellar homegrown restaurants, independent boutiques, thriving cultural venues and contemporary art galleries, innovative social enterprises, and seemingly countless opportunities for ethical wildlife viewing. On top of that, there’s a hotel where you can have breakfast with giraffes. Nairobi really has it all.

I worked as a flight attendant on domestic and international routes for two years, and I saw all kinds of behavior on planes. 

Thursdays are the busiest days to fly, but travelers taking to the skies on Mondays could save about 15 percent off the cost of their domestic trip. When it comes to international flights, travelers can save by departing on a Saturday.
