Summer has officially arrived, and there is no better place to dive into watery fun than at Walt Disney World Resort in Florida.
With four world-famous theme parks, two incredible water parks and elaborately themed swimming pools at dozens of Disney Resorts Collection hotels, there are endless opportunities for guests to dip into summer fun.
Here are six ways guests can have a splash-tastic summer at Walt Disney World.
Jump Into Themed Pools at Disney Resorts Collection hotels: The more than two dozen Disney Resorts Collection hotels feature spectacular pools for relaxation and fun for the whole family. Disney’s Yacht & Beach Club Resorts are home to a three-acre water wonderland with a sandy-bottom pool, lazy river and a shipwreck replica that features one of the tallest water slides of any Disney Resorts Collection hotel pool. At Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort, the pirate-inspired Fuentes del Morro Pool features two waterslides and huge water cannons. “Finding Nemo” provides inspiration for the Big Blue Pool at Disney’s Art of Animation Resort. It is the largest Disney Resorts Collection hotel pool, with 308,527 gallons of water and an underwater sound system. For moms and dads looking for quiet time or adults traveling without children, most Disney Resorts Collection hotels offer separate quiet pools that are perfect for sunning and soaking.
Splash Into Fun at Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon: There is something for everyone at Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon. The tropical-themed water park boasts thrilling attractions like Crush ‘n Gusher water coaster, relaxing lazy river journeys along Castaway Creek and kid-friendly fun at Ketchakiddee Creek. The popular Disney H2O Glow After Hours event is offered on select nights now through August 31. This specially ticketed, nighttime beach bash allows families to spend several hours enjoying the water park after it closes. Other event benefits include quick access to favorite attractions, surprise character appearances, and complimentary ice cream, popcorn and beverages.

Get Wet on Thrilling Theme Park Attractions: Whether it’s a 50-foot plunge into the bayou or frolicking in a splash pad of playful fountains, theme parks at Walt Disney World offer “just the right amount of wet” for every age. Guests can “take the plunge” on an exhilarating musical water adventure in the new Tiana’s Bayou Adventure at Magic Kingdom Park. It crescendos with a 50-foot drop that leads to the grandest Mardi Gras celebration this side of the Mississippi. Or, for a soaking good time, Kali River Rapids at Disney’s Animal Kingdom whisks guests along fast-moving rapids.

I am not a hot-weather person. As soon as the thermometer starts climbing toward 80 degrees Fahrenheit, you'll find me indoors with the air conditioning blasting. So it should come as little surprise that I prefer to skip typical summer vacations to warm-weather destinations in favor of milder — or perhaps even snowy — climes.
