Because the American Airlines AAdvantage® MileUp® doesn't have a big bonus or benefits for frequent flyers, it's best for those who travel infrequently or are just getting started with earning American Airlines miles.
The American Airlines AAdvantage® MileUp® stands out among airline credit cards because, unlike most, it doesn't charge an annual fee.
That said, there's a tradeoff. Other American Airlines credit cards offer substantial welcome bonus offers of at least 50,000 miles, but the American Airlines AAdvantage® MileUp® only comes with 15,000 American Airlines miles after spending $500 in purchases in the first three months of account opening.
The card doesn't offer much in the way of frequent flyer benefits, either. For example, you won't get a free first checked bag on domestic itineraries or preferred boarding, which are both standard perks offered by other American Airlines credit cards like the Citi® / AAdvantage® Platinum Select® World Elite Mastercard® and CitiBusiness® / AAdvantage® Platinum Select® World Elite Mastercard® .
The only real travel-related benefit you'll receive is 25% off inflight purchases you make with your card, and you can only take advantage of this perk when you're actually up in the air.
