The Delta SkyMiles® Reserve American Express Card is one of the best airline credit cards for frequent Delta flyers who can use benefits like airport lounge access, which can make the $650 annual fee worthwhile.
American Express issues seven personal and small-business Delta credit cards. The Delta SkyMiles® Reserve American Express Card is the most premium of the personal cards, and new cardholders can earn a welcome bonus offer of 100,000 bonus miles after you spend $6,000 in purchases on your new card in the first six months from account opening.
The Delta SkyMiles® Reserve American Express Card isn't for the casual Delta flyer, especially after the airline increased the annual fee to $650 in February 2024.
But the card is worth consideration if you can make use of perks such as access to the Delta Sky Club and Amex Centurion airport lounge networks when you fly Delta; Medallion® Qualification Miles (MQMs); complimentary upgrades when available; a 15% discount on Delta award flights; a free first checked bag; and an annual Delta companion certificate.
You'll earn 3x miles on Delta purchases, but just 1 mile per dollar on everything else — there are no other bonus categories. If you want to earn more Delta miles from your everyday spending, you'll want to look at other Delta cards or cards that earn Amex Membership Rewards points, such as the American Express® Gold Card. Delta is an American Express transfer partner, and you can convert Membership Rewards points to SkyMiles instantly at a 1:1 ratio.
The Delta SkyMiles® Reserve American Express Card currently offers a welcome bonus of 100,000 bonus miles after you spend $6,000 in purchases on your new card in the first six months from account opening. The bonus miles are worth about $1,100 in flights, based on Business Insider's points and miles valuations.
