American Airlines has brought back its mileage deals for late summer and fall travel, with one-way flights starting at just 5,000 miles.
“Redeem your miles on flights to the U.S., Caribbean, Europe, Asia, Latin America, and more,” the airline shared about the promotion on its website. “You can even treat yourself to a Premium seat and fly in style and comfort. So go ahead and reward yourself with travel!”
The sale, which is ongoing until Tuesday, July 2, allows fliers to book domestic and international flights across economy and premium cabins. The booking window is available from Aug. 19 to Nov. 20 for domestic, Mexico, Caribbean, and Latin America flights and from Aug. 19 to Dec. 13 for Europe and Asia Pacific flights.
There are only a few blackout dates of this promotion, which include Sep. 2 and Nov. 21 to Dec. 1. The AAdvantage® Miles Redemption Deals page details all of the eligible routes, but Travel + Leisure has identified some of the best one-way flights on sale:
These offers are available in Main Cabin, so AAdvantage miles can be fully refunded immediately upon cancellation. Travelers need to cover the taxes and fees, which start at just $5.60 one-way for domestic tickets and will vary for international flights.
American Airlines sells miles frequently with a discount of up to 35 percent, bringing down the cost to roughly 2.45 cents apiece. It’s also possible to share AAdvantage miles between frequent flier accounts, though there is a $5 fee for every 1,000 miles transferred.
