From aerial photos of sunny beaches captured from an open-door helicopter to posing dogs in berets in Paris, fine art photographer Gray Malin is a master at capturing shots that evoke the feeling of vacation and joy.
In his latest series, Malin took his camera gear and vintage props to sunny Saint Barthélemy (St. Barts), a luxury Caribbean island that’s known for its superyachts, gorgeous beaches, and red-roofed capital, Gustavia.
In an interview, Malin shares the inspiration behind the photos in his St. Barts series, with many of the shots taken on Rosewood Le Guanahani, a resort perched on its own peninsula.
See the gallery of Malin’s photos and discover his favorite spots on the island, including a gentle swimming cove with bright turquoise waters and a scenic lookout spot that’s perfect for yoga routine and sunset-watching.

Imagine taking nearly three months to meander across Africa, Asia, Europe, and North America, reveling in the romantic atmosphere of first-class train travel all the while. My intended path through France, Italy and then on to Greece via sea had relied on a connection from Lyon to Milan passing directly through this region. Now the route is out of action and it could be months before the railway tracks are dug out from the rubble. Initially, I’m irate. En route to the Eurostar terminal at London’s St Pancras at 6.30am, however, I encourage myself to think differently.

A common alternative to doing all of the Thanksgiving cooking and cleanup at home is to take it on the road, choosing one of the many restaurants or resorts in the U.S. that feature traditional Thanksgiving menus. But another option is to combine the feast of the day and a travel destination outside of the U.S. at a time when prices are lower and crowds are fewer. These four locales provide exactly that.
There’s no shortage of chic hotels in Paris. But very few offer the comfort and intimacy of a luxurious Parisian apartment coupled with the five-star service of a top hotel. That is, except for the Hotel San Régis, the iconic 100-year-old gem in the tony eighth arrondissement that’s hosted the likes of Richard Avedon, Lauren Bacall, Gene Kelly, Louis Malle, Jacqueline Bisset, Romy Schneider and more.
