15 Women Shaping the Way We Travel: International Women's Day 2024

How should we use our power, once we have it? As the CEO and founder of El Camino Travel, a company that organizes small group trips and builds community among women travelers, I am always thinking about what guests want out of their travels—and what direction we, as an industry, are headed. It's 2024, yet the CEOs of most major travel companies are still men, dictating the trajectory of a marketplace in which women account for 85% of travel planning decisions and spend $125 billion annually on trips. It’s no doubt the reason so many of our community members tell me they have struggled to find experiences that speak to them in the marketplace.

Hatch Rest Go Review: This Portable Sound Machine Is My New Favorite Travel Accessory

When I got my hands on the popular Hatch Restore 2 alarm clock last year, I couldn't wait to start waking up to its gentle sounds and kiss my obnoxious iPhone alarm goodbye. While I was originally drawn to the Hatch's sunrise-inspired alarm, the sleep sounds completely enhanced my nighttime routine and are really what makes me love the bedside machine as much as I do. I began relying on the whispers of crashing ocean waves to help me slip into a comfortable snooze each night. I'm certainly not the lightest sleeper, but I do fall asleep much faster—and stay asleep longer—with some calming background noise. When it was time to pack for a weekend trip to the Poconos a few months ago, knowing I'd have to leave my alarm clock at home, I decided to take the Hatch Rest Go for a spin. I quickly realized this portable sound machine, designed with parents and babies in mind, but just as great for travelers working on their own sleep hygiene, would become my latest must-pack travel accessory.

Silence Is What You Need From Your Travels This Year

I’ll be honest: I’m not good at sitting with silence. According to my Spotify Wrapped, I amassed an impressive (worrying?) 75,000 minutes of music this year. That’s not including the podcasts I brush my teeth to or the audiobooks I regularly fall asleep to.
