flynas launches a pioneering sign language training program for cabin crew in collaboration with the Saudi Association for Hearing Impairment, enhancing communication with hearing-impaired passengers and reinforcing its commitment to inclusivity.
RIYADH – flynas, the Saudi air carrier and leading low-cost airline in the Middle East and the world, announced launching a program to have cabin crew trained in sign language, in cooperation with the Saudi Association for Hearing Impairment, in the first initiative of its kind in Saudi Arabia, as part of flynas’ commitment to adopting initiatives with a sustainable impact on society.
The program aims to enable cabin crew members to communicate effectively with hard of hearing or deaf passengers. The content of the advanced qualification program focuses on proficiency in using sign language as the training material covers all stages of dealing with hearing-impaired passengers, starting from welcoming, checking in, boarding, in-flight catering, safety procedures, and bidding farewell upon arrival to enhance the skills of cabin crew to provide the best travel experience.
The program comes after the success of a similar program implemented by flynas at the beginning of 2024 to train ground service staff and cabin crew on the best ways to deal with travelers with autism.
