An iconic cornerstone of London’s landscape, the city’s Old War Office building is set to settle into a brand-new identity this month. Sold to the Hinduja group in 2016, the building is opening its doors to the public once again, this time revamped into the Raffles London at The OWO. This will be Raffles Hotels & Resorts’ first location in the United Kingdom. Rаffles’ hotels are known for bringing together impeccable hospitality, design, and exclusive environments, and The OWO is no exception. Storytelling and preservation are the focus here, and Raffles properties allow guests to spend their trip basking in history.
Located in London’s Whitehall district, The OWO building began housing Britain’s war offices in 1906. Its trapezoidal shape, neo-Baroque architecture and towering presence remain one of the city’s visual symbols. One of the most important elements of the building’s transition into a hotel has been its extensive restoration, a process that took eight years. With heritage features at the forefront, the hotel’s best aspects were carefully revived. Interior details spread throughout the building include original chandeliers, a marble staircase, and mosaic floors tiled by hand. Painstakingly renewed yet retaining every bit of their former grandeur, details like these remind guests that some things are built to last.
The hotel offers a selection of 120 rooms and suites that pays homage to Thierry Despont, a designer known for his grand re-imaginings of iconic structures. The building is also home to 85 residences up for ownership. These include studios, penthouses, and even turret residences, which promise unmatched views of the surrounding skyline.
The west wing of the hotel is devoted to a series of Heritage Suites, or former offices of national leaders that include none other than Winston Churchill. Available as the Whitehall Wing, this exclusive six-bedroom suite houses up to 12 guests.
While The OWO will remain a historic destination, it is also well on its way to becoming a culinary hotspot thanks to the hotel’s nine restaurants and three on-site bars. These include an outpost of Milan favorite Langosteria, chef Patron Endo Kazutoshi’s Japanese restaurant, and the Parisian- inspired flair of Café Laperouse. Three of the nine restaurants are brought to you by internationally acclaimed chef Mauro Colagreco. The undercover intelligence- inspired Spy Bar rivals some of the city’s best after-hours venues.
Another much-anticipated draw, the hotel’s Guerlain Spa invites guests to enjoy beauty, wellness, and fitness expertise from Pillar Wellbeing. The space includes a gym, movement studio, 20m swimming pool and more. Event spaces and meeting rooms can be found throughout the building,

Several blocks away from The Dolli in Athens’ central Plaka, visitors encounter the ruins of Hadrian’s Library and the Roman Agora before climbing the hill up to the Acropolis. Guests of The Dolli, though, have an easier time if they want a glimpse of the Parthenon’s splendor: they can take a table at the rooftop restaurant or sit in or by the infinity pool, both with straight on views of this iconic temple. It’s one reason to stay at this new boutique hotel, a part of Grecotel Hotels & Resorts, which opened officially in January and one reason owner Mari Daskalantonaki selected this site. But it’s not the only advantage of being in residence here.

When I tell Americans I live in Cusco, Peru, I often get a puzzled look. When I add that it's the Inca capital you fly to on your way to visit Machu Picchu, their eyes light up. It's beautiful, and I love living here, but it's far from perfect. There's been political instability and crime. But for me, Cusco has always proved worth the downsides.
Atlanta, Georgia is well-known for being the home to many prominent American brands like Coca-Cola, Delta, and CNN — among others. But the “New York of the South” stands out on its own, for its one-of-a-kind personality and unique lineup of visitor attractions. As a flock of noisy jet skiers circle the Statue of Liberty on a warm October evening, Matthew Rhys looks out at the horizon. “There’s a Welsh word, hiraeth, which is loosely translated to ‘a longing for home,’" he says. “But it's something slightly more than that. It's a longing for something that can never be again.”
Tucked off a busy street in Holborn, and found in its own serene courtyard, some guests might be confused at first as to how they exactly check into Rosewood London. But, this is all part of its charm. Love, sex, and relationships can be messy, regardless of your living situation. Things can get especially tricky when you live in van, like I chose to do for four years.
