Gaston. Cruella de Ville. Captain Hook. Maleficent. Scar. The Evil Queen. The list goes on.
In the annals and legacy of great films by Disney, there have been great villains. Antagonists and protagonists, if you will.
Now these villains will be featured in their own separate entity at Walt Disney World Resort. Villains Land at Magic Kingdom Park is coming as part of massive expansion plans announced this weekend.
An official announcement was made by Disney Experiences Chairman Josh D’Amaro at the annual company gala D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event. Imagine? Now you can rub elbows with characters you loathe.
Villains Land will include two major attractions and dining. Poison apple for dessert, anyone?
“Be prepared, you poor unfortunate souls,” D’Amaro said. “It’s going to be a fearless new vision for what a Disney experience can be."
Preparation for the new themed land is underway.
Added D’Amaro: “At Disney Experiences, Imagineers dream, create, design and build these stories into real places. And we have Imagineers in place right now all around the world because everything we’re going to share with you is in active development. Plans are drawn. Dirt is moving.”
It appears to be part of a planned expansion at Walt Disney World Resort.

I love all things Disney, but I haven't been able to justify spending the money visiting Disney World as an adult. The last time I went was in 2013 on a high school trip, and admittedly, I didn't pay for that.
I don't know whether the influx of wedding invites I've received is a byproduct of the many celebrations that got delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic or a rite of passage for anyone approaching their late 20s.
Good morning from Skift. It’s Tuesday, August 13, and now here’s what you need to know about the business of travel today.
Massive expansion plans have been announced for Magic Kingdom Park at Walt Disney World.
On Saturday evening at the Disney Experiences Showcase during D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event, Disney Experiences Chairman Josh D'Amaro revealed dozens of new lands, attractions and experiences coming to Disney parks across the globe.
It may not be a small world after all.
You don’t hear about Central Florida very often, and when you do, chances are it has something to do with Walt Disney World. But just over an hour north of the famed resort complex is the mid-sized city of Ocala, a destination bursting with superlatives, including “America’s largest spring” and “horse capital of the world.”
Disney Experiences Chairman Josh D'Amaro unveiled ambitious plans for Walt Disney World, including new attractions and in-park destinations.
What was arguably the most shocking announcement of the night at the Walt Disney Company's D23 fan event last night in Anaheim, California, wasn't about a theme park (although there were tons of those, too).
Tara Cannon and her husband Rand have traveled with their two kids for 19 years — since they were babies.
Every two years, droves of Disney fans descend on Anaheim, California, but not solely to visit Disneyland. They come together to celebrate their shared love of all things Disney with exclusive experiences, behind-the-scenes panels, shopping, cosplaying and so much more at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event that takes place once every two years.
