Some airlines have begun issuing waivers in anticipation of what is expected to be a major snowstorm in the Northeast United States this weekend.
Snow has already begun to fall in the Midwest, but depending on where you live, it could be a lot of rain or snow in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic. The National Weather Service issued winter storm watches up and down the I-95 quarter from Maine to North Carolina.
Travel could be impacted from New York to Boston to Washington to Philadelphia to Baltimore, and airlines have been proactive ahead of the storm.
More than 20 million residents from the Carolinas to Maine are under a Winter Storm Watch ahead of the arrival of the nor'easter.

American Airlines is taking no chances. The carrier has already issued waivers for those traveling on Saturday and Sunday through Albany, New York (ALB), Allentown (ABE), Baltimore (BWI), Bangor, Maine (BGR), Boston (BOS), Burlington, Vermont (BTV), Harrisburg (MDT), Hartford (BDL), Manchester, New Hampshire (MHT), New York Kennedy (JFK), New York LaGuardia (LGA), Newark (EWR), Philadelphia (PHL), Pittsburgh (PIT), Portland, Maine (PWM), Providence, Rhode Island (PVD), Salisbury/Ocean City, Maryland (SBY), State College, Pennsylvania (SCE), Syracuse (SYR), Washington Dulles (IAD), Washington Reagan (DCA), White Plains/Westchester County, New York (HPN), Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, Pennsylvania (AVP) and Worcester, Massachusetts (ORH).
Airline waivers allow you to change your flight without incurring any penalties, although there is usually a deadline associated with the waiver, and you must fly into and out of the airport where you originally booked your ticket.
Delta Air Lines also issued waivers for flights on Saturday and Sunday, January 6 and 7, at Albany, Allentown, Baltimore, Bangor, Binghamton, Boston, Charleston (CRW), Charlottesville (CHO), Harrisburg, Hartford, New York Kennedy, New York LaGuardia, Newark, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Portland, Providence, Washington D.C. Dulles, Washington D.C. Reagan, and White Plains.
JetBlue also issued waivers at Albany, Boston, Buffalo, Hartford, Newark, New York (JFK), New York (LGA), Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Providence, Rochester, Syracuse, Westchester County, and Worcester.
Check with each individual airline because the rebooking deadline date is different for each carrier.
