A fourth Park Hyatt hotel is coming to Japan. However, you'll have to wait a few years to check in.
Park Hyatt Sapporo will debut in Hokkaido Prefecture in northern Japan in 2029. The ultraluxury hotel will complement Park Hyatt Niseko Hanazono, a luxury ski resort in Hokkaido, as well as Park Hyatt Tokyo and Park Hyatt Kyoto. Park Hyatt Sapporo will occupy the 27th through the 35th floors of a tower in development at the intersection of Odori Park and Sapporo Ekimae-dori, the city's main business and commercial boulevard.
The Park Hyatt portion of the Kengo Kuma-designed tower will feature 157 guest rooms and suites. Further details on the hotel are sparse beyond that it will offer "world-class culinary and wellness experiences, an indoor swimming pool and inspiring spaces for meetings and events." But the new property provides another ultraluxury option to earn and redeem World of Hyatt points when visiting Japan.
Park Hyatt Sapporo is Hyatt's second partnership with Heiwa Real Estate, a developer that was also behind the Caption by Hyatt Kabutocho Tokyo, which is set to open in 2025.
"We sincerely appreciate their confidence in Hyatt, and we are honored to join with them in elevating the luxury offerings in this dynamic city," said David Udell, Hyatt's group president of the Asia-Pacific region. "We are excited to be part of the ongoing transformation of Sapporo, as more discerning business and leisure travelers, including World of Hyatt members, head north to discover Hokkaido."
The new Park Hyatt announcement comes amid a broader Hyatt expansion and rejuvenation across Japan. The hotel giant currently has a 21-hotel presence in the country across nine of its brands. The Hyatt Centric brand is set to debut in Sapporo in 2026, the same year Hyatt is expected to open the first of its Japan-specific ryokan brand, Atona.
Of course, hotel fans around the world are eagerly awaiting the reopening of Park Hyatt Tokyo, which is currently closed for renovation and slated to reopen within the next year.
