The urban and rural experiences offered by Quito Turismo on its website and social media are designed to highlight the capital’s charms and foster a connection with local culture.

These activities aim to promote the attractions that the Metropolitan District of Quito (DMQ) has to offer while boosting the local economy and creating opportunities for people involved in the tourism industry.

Subsidized by the Municipality of Quito, these tourist experiences are affordably priced between $10 and $20, depending on whether tours are in urban or rural areas. Typically, the experience includes guided tours, access to museums or tourist sites, meals and sometimes transportation and souvenirs.

Visitors have had the opportunity to explore iconic locations such as the century-old La Mariscal neighbourhood and unique biodiversity hotspots like the Andean Chocó. They’ve also learned about the Kitu Kara people’s handmade embroidery and enjoyed traditional celebrations like Inti Raymi in Yaruquí.

The Cuerpo de Agentes de Control (Control Agents Unit) provides support to enhance these tourist experiences, ensuring visitor safety while promoting enriching adventures for everyone who comes to the city.

The Metropolitan District encompasses 33 rural parishes, each offering its own charms that blend nature with picturesque settlements and exquisite, varied cuisine.

This year, American online travel agency Tripadvisor included Quito in its “Top Destinations: South America” list, alongside iconic cities like Cusco, Rio de Janeiro, and Buenos Aires, cementing its status as a must-visit destination in the region.
