The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) is inviting everyone to the ‘Amazing Thailand Countdown 2024 Vijit Arun’ celebration that will take place on New Year’s Eve at Nagaraphirom Park against the majestic backdrop of Wat Arun or the Temple of Dawn, one of Thailand’s most-visited attractions on the mighty Chao Phraya River in Bangkok.
Mr. Apichai Chatchalermkit, TAT Deputy Governor of Tourism Products and Business, said “Bangkok is known globally as one of the great places to celebrate the New Year, and the ‘Amazing Thailand Countdown 2024 Vijit Arun’ has been conceptualised to illustrate that positive image. Set in the majestic atmosphere of Wat Arun, tourists and spectators are welcome to join in witnessing almost-the-last sunsets of 2023 and the lead-up to the New Year Countdown that will run through to midnight with a series of spectacular pyrotechnics displays.”
The ‘Amazing Thailand Countdown 2024 Vijit Arun’ will be held at Nagaraphirom Park from 18.00 Hrs. on 31 December 2023 to 00.30 Hrs. on 1 January 2024. The eventful evening promises to amaze and delight visitors with memorable cultural and music performances, including Khon masked dance drama, Joe Louis Thai Puppet Show, symphonic performances by the Chao Phraya Symphony Orchestra, and concerts by Thai singers. The activities will take place on a floating stage against the backdrop of the majestic Temple of Dawn with terrace seating by the river available for visitors.
At five minutes to midnight, the event will culminate in a countdown ceremony, and at midnight, there will be nine acts of 7-minute countdown fireworks displays above the mighty Chao Phraya River that will illustrate the evolution of Thailand and Thai tourism from the past to the present. Everyone will then be invited to join in singing along to popular Happy New Year songs backed by the Chao Phraya Symphony Orchestra.
The Countdown celebration is a culmination of the one-month Vijit Chao Phraya extravagant light event and the Thailand Winter Festival year-end spectacle announced by the Thai government to promote Thai soft powers and elevate Thai events and festivals to a global scale. As well as to accentuate the vibrant ambiances and colourful vibes of the Chao Phraya River, the event is aimed to help enhance commercial opportunities for business entrepreneurs and establishments in the area.
