But if you’ve got your own stash of points ready to burn, here’s what lucky travelers need to know this month for cashing in on the best points and miles travel deals for the month of March.

To encourage consumers to use a particular credit card, issuers often have special offers that you can add to your account. Once you use your card at an eligible retailer, it triggers an automatic bonus (discounts, rebates, or bonus points). To add these, you need to log into your credit card account and actively elect them. If you have an American Express card like the American Express® Gold Card, look for the “Amex Offers” section; if you have a Chase credit card like the Chase Sapphire Reserve or Chase Sapphire Preferred, find them in the “Chase Offers” section. These are typically targeted bonuses (meaning not all users get the same offers), but if you are eligible, a quick two-minute scan could save substantial cash or offer up bonuses.
