I caught up with Jermaine Humphrey, Director of US Sales Playa Hotels & Resorts at to hear what the latest is with the company and what travelers and travel advisors need to know.
TravelPulse: How important is it for Playa Hotels and Resort to be hosting the Future Leaders in Travel Retreat again?
Jermaine Humphrey: It’s very important for Playa Hotels and Resorts to be hosting the Future Leaders In Travel Treat for the 3rd consecutive year. It also give us the exclusive opportunity to showcase our portfolio and provide firsthand experience on what their clients could expect when staying with any of our 25 resorts. The Northstar Team does an amazing job with selecting the right fit agents.

With its cobbled historic downtown, fascinating museums and lively dining and bar scene, Bogotá can keep you busy for days. After you’ve made the most of the city’s cultural and historical experiences, consider a day trip to Bogotá’s lush and evergreen hinterland, where you’ll find misty cloud forests, quaint towns, striking mountains and lots of outdoor activities. Most of these places can be reached on a bus, but if you rent a car, you might be able to combine a few of them into a one – or two – day trip.
Santiago is a spectacular city, with terrific museums, outstanding food and an awe-inspiring view of the Andes. Just steps from each other, the W Santiago and the Ritz Carlton offer two terrific lodging options. Below are highlights from each property.
There was a time when accommodation options in Japan tended to fall into three categories: glossy international chains, dull homegrown business hotels and basic ryokan (traditional inns), which despite their atmospheric tatami mats and wooden sliding doors were often light on comfort and mod cons. But new options abound, particularly for the cultural traveller.
In the heart of the Riviera Maya, between the lush nature and turquoise waters of the Mexican Caribbean, hides a treasure you are about to discover. The Fives Oceanfront Hotel & Residences, a luxurious boutique hotel complex located in the picturesque fishing village of Puerto Morelos, invites you to immerse yourself in a world of sensations and emotions that will take your breath away.
Whether you are a first-time visitor to Tokyo or know the city well, there are plenty of surprises waiting on the capital’s doorstep. The temples and shrines of Nikkō and Kamakura offer a window into Japanese history, while Mt Takao, Hakone, and Izu Oshima Island provide a natural contrast to Tokyo’s crowded, urban heart.
A tourist climbed up the famous Fountain of Neptune in Florence, Italy, this weekend, damaging it by breaking off a piece of marble in the process, the city's mayor said.
Choosing where to stay in Tokyo – the largest city on the planet – can feel like a minefield. Look one way and you’ll find lantern-lit alleyways and Shinto shrines peeking out from behind evergreens. Turn the other and you’ve got neck-creaking skyscrapers and streets drenched in neon. Divided into 23 special wards and countless districts and unique neighborhoods, the Tokyo hotel scene is equally dynamic and you’ll want to find lodging that reflects your beat.
It might be the capital but Berlin is far from the archetypal German city. While there are scores of historical sights and, at times, affecting museums to explore, the overarching essence of Berlin is very much in the now. Berlin hotels strike a balance between Old Europe and the modern spirit of this artistic, edgy city. For every grand hotel, there’s a kooky boutique bolthole. These are the best hotels in Berlin, Germany, for an unforgettable stay.
