Visiting Acadia National Park, located on Mount Desert Island off the coast of Maine, has been at the top of my dream destination list for years. It's also one of the busiest national parks in the country, with nearly 4 million visitors last year.

With major hotel companies announcing new brands left and right, it's hard to keep up with all of them. But of all the announcements coming out in the last few years, few have been as exciting as Hilton's new Tempo by Hilton, designed to cater to "active, ambitious travelers."
Last month, the very first Tempo hotel opened in New York's flashy and fast-paced Times Square, and there are more than 35 others in development.
Whether you're a Hilton Honors loyalist or one of those ambitious lifestyle travelers the hotel is designed to serve, here's a quick look at the brand and its first property to help you decide if it's worth a stay.
Tempo by Hilton is a new lifestyle brand with one property open in New York City called Tempo by Hilton New York Times Square; dozens more are in the pipeline. While lifestyle brands are a dime a dozen these days, it seems like Hilton really worked to make this brand something special for its targeted guests, putting a special emphasis on smart room design, wellness, food and drink, location and more.
As we shared in our guide to every Hilton brand, Hilton pitches the brand to investors like this:
Or, as we translated it, "These hotels are meant to feature a midcentury modern style — so travelers can feel like they're sleeping in a West Elm catalog."
For the Tempo by Hilton, wellness is front and center, and this is demonstrated in several ways, starting in the rooms. All rooms feature different zones designed for different parts of the day. The "Power Down" amenities help you fall and stay asleep, while the "Power Up" amenities in the "Get Ready Zone" help you wake up fresh to get your day going.
These areas include different lighting options that adjust with guests throughout the day: bright lights to help you get ready and soothing, dim lights to help you relax. There are also a functional desk for working, a closet space and an oversized bath suite featuring mirrors with built-in Bluetooth speakers.
For a really special room experience in New York, consider booking one of the Ball Drop Rooms with clear views of both the famous Ball Drop in Times Square on New Year's Eve and the celebrity-filled entertainment down on the street below.
According to Hilton, each Tempo property will have wellness-focused amenities to help guests stay balanced while traveling. At the Tempo by Hilton New York Times Square, that might mean booking one of the hotel's nine wellness rooms.
Wellness rooms include a Peloton bike so you can get your spin on overlooking the lights of Times Square, as well as a Peloton yoga mat and resistance bands. A Therabody Theragun Elite and Wave Roller help you work out the kinks after a busy day exploring New York City or working out with the in-room equipment.

No one enjoys wasting their time in long airport lines—especially when there’s an exciting vacation at the other end. Fortunately, there are programs like TSA PreCheck, Global Entry, and Clear that can save travelers valuable time and hassle at the airport. Before takeoff, TSA PreCheck and Clear allow travelers to go through the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) security lines faster. After landing, Global Entry speeds up checks at the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) international checkpoints. All three have their own designated lanes, if they’re available at the airport.
In terms of airport lounges, American Express is undeniably a trailblazer.
When looking for a flight to book, the number of options can feel dizzying. If it's your first time booking flights on your own, you may be wondering whether it's better to book two one-way flights or a round-trip flight.
Travelers already looking to 2024 for their next trip now have the opportunity to score major savings.
On Saturday, violence erupted across Israel and Gaza in one of the worst conflicts the region has seen in decades, according to The New York Times. After Hamas militants began launching thousands of rockets and infiltrating Israeli towns early Saturday morning, the conflict has continued to escalate, with Israel’s military responding with massive air strikes. The violence has left thousands dead, according to CNN. Thousands more are injured on both sides.
The Statue of Liberty, an iconic symbol of freedom and democracy, stands proudly in New York Harbor, welcoming visitors from around the world to the United States. This colossal neoclassical sculpture was a gift from the people of France to the United States in 1886, commemorating the centennial of American independence and the enduring alliance between the two nations. These Airbnbs near the Statue of Liberty provide views and easy access.
Cruise ship passengers had a rude welcome to France yesterday (8 October) as environmental protesters gathered to condemn their choice of travel.
During summer travel season we enjoy “La Dolce Vita”, the sweeter side of life with less strict routines and more sunshine. As fall approaches many of us take a back-to-school approach to our beauty and wellness routines, getting back on track after vacations and weekend trips. Fall is a great time to counteract many symptoms of summer travel including hyperpigmentation from too much sun, aches from too many flights, and a puffy face from one too many poolside wines.
Airbnb CEO Brian Chesky says that visiting — and living in — New York City will be more expensive after the Big Apple passed new regulations for booking vacation rentals.
Long wait times for visas and an outdated air infrastructure hobble the U.S.’s ability to attract travelers, said executives at the Skift Global Forum.
It's October, which means the leaves are changing, giant skeletons are taking over suburban lawns and people are apple-picking pretty much anywhere an apple grows.
