Nicknamed the ‘Pearl of the Orient Seas,’ Manila is quickly becoming a destination city in Southeast Asia. With a population of just under 13 million, the coastal city is brimming with life. From edgy art exhibits and a food scene with serious culinary chops to more traditional cultural gems like jeepneys and open-air markets, the capital of the Philippines has something to offer all kinds of travelers.
Here’s where you’ll want to eat and drink while visiting Manila:
The shopping mall and outdoor market culture in Manila is undeniable—and an ideal place to get a ton of different food items for on the cheap. Head to Market! Market! In the BGC (it’s easily accessible by Jeepney), which touts handfuls of indoor and outdoor food stalls, boasting everything from fried chicken to savoury tofu steak.
Okay, we usually wouldn’t recommend going to a fast food joint while abroad, but hear us out. Jollibee is a Filipnio fried chicken chain—and the only fast food chain in the world that locally boasts more customers than McDonald’s. Even the late Anthony Bourdain himself said the first thing he does upon touching down in the Philippines is head to the nearest Jollibee. Get the spicy chicken joy with a side of spaghetti—you’ll be ruined for McDonald’s for life.
An abbreviation of a Japanese saying that means ‘absurdly delicious’, this twenty-seat Japanese restaurant in BDC is one of the best in the world (it has recently landed on the World’s 50 Best list). The brainchild of chef Bruce Ricketts, the eight-course menu takes guests through market fresh seafood and seasonal veggies, including striped mackerel sashimi, wagyu with charred eggplant puree and miso butter-soaked potato bread toast. Be sure to make a reservation— spots fill up fast.
If drinks al fresco and sweeping skylines are your thing, head to The Peak bar at the Grand Hyatt Manila. Combining a grill restaurant, speakeasy, whisky bar, music lounge, and rooftop terrasse, this 60th-floor bar is unbeatable in terms of views, vibes, and drink options.
Nestled into the up-and-coming Poblacion neighbourhood, Run Rabbit Run is one of the best cocktail bars in the city. The Run Rabbit Run experience is more than just cocktails, though, here, you’ll also find local art on the walls by both established and emerging local artists, guest DJs, and a floor-to-ceiling garden upstairs.
Quite possibly the coolest speakeasy in Southeast Asia, Bank Bar is a sophisticated ‘drinking den’ located in The Fort. To get it? Patrons have to enter into a real 7-Eleven corner store and pass through a back door. From there, it’s all high-vibe music and craft cocktails set against contemporary art and velvet booths.

Even with traffic on the 405, it probably would have taken at most three hours for Victoria Pardo Uzitas to drive from her home in San Diego to SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles to see a performance of Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour. Instead, she and her teenage daughter crossed the border to Tijuana, flew to Mexico City, enjoyed classic tacos al pastor and churros, saw a Frida Kahlo masterpiece at the Museo de Arte Moderno, and yes, saw Taylor Swift.
The last six years or so have seen Lisbon become one of Europe’s most sought-after – and delicious – European destinations.
In an inspirational demonstration of passion, preparation and poise, Naomi Onwufuju, Junior Minister of Tourism of the British Virgin Islands, brought home the winner’s plaque at the 19th Caribbean Tourism Organization (CTO) Regional Tourism Youth Congress, held at Beaches Turks & Caicos in Providenciales on Friday. Competing against students from 13 other Caribbean destinations, the 16-year-old skillfully presented three innovative strategies her country could undertake to develop and implement an initiative whereby tourism stakeholders and their allied partners can work together to enhance access, safety, use, and enjoyment of the destination’s tourism offerings by visitors with disabilities.
That investors are buying single-family homes across the country is not new, but how much and where?
While many Americans associate kaleidoscopic fall foliage with New England, Seattle also brims with autumnal appeal with cool, crisp air and a stunning backdrop of tree-covered hills and mountains. Also: where else can you take in awe-inspiring views of Mount Rainier, knock back a chambong (champagne glass-beer bong hybrid), savor spicy Laotian chicken laap, and retire to a plush room overlooking Elliot Bay in a single day?
Ruidoso, New Mexico, population about 8,000, sits in the Sierra Blanca Mountain range at an elevation of 7,800 feet. Though small, it has a big draw for travelers thanks to its history, Indigenous and Spanish culture, family-friendly atmosphere, opportunities for outdoor adventure, and central location near Carlsbad Caverns, Lincoln National Forest, White Sands National Monument, and more. It’s the type of mountain town where you can actually find relaxation unlike some of the more visited mountain towns in states like Colorado and Utah.
East London wasn’t always the cool, urban kid it is today.

Austrian rail operator OeBB on Saturday unveiled its new generation of sleeper trains - a response to demands from travellers for less pollutant alternatives to planes and petrol or diesel cars.
If you know me, you know how much I love planes, and as an AvGeek to the core, it gives me joy to share my love of everything aviation.
When it comes to flying in business class, no one does it quite like Air France. Known for their Francophile food options—which begin from the moment you step into their lounges, stocked with petite macarons, croque madames, and classic French cocktails, such as the Kir Royal—amenity kits with products from French brand Clarins, and impeccable service, a flight with the airline is like getting a little slice of la vie française. Although already an excellent experience, this past summer, the airline began rolling out updated business-class cabins, starting with flights from Paris to New York City. But things just got even better: This month, Air France is offering travelers the chance to win a pair of free tickets to experience their business-class offering for themselves.
