World Travel Awards Grand Final 2023 to Take Place at Dubai’s Burj Al Arab

Johnnie Walker Princes Street has been crowned the World’s Leading Spirit Experience by the World Travel Awards (WTA), further cementing Scotland’s reputation as one of the world’s best food and drink tourism destinations. The global flagship visitor experience for the world’s number one-selling Scotch whisky*, which opened its doors in September 2021, has quickly established itself as one of Scotland’s leading attractions for international and local visitors. It was created as part of Diageo’s £185million investment in Scotch whisky experiences, that was designed to put Scotch and Scotland at the pinnacle of global food and drink tourism.

The red-carpet reception marked the climax of WTA’s landmark 30th anniversary of celebrating travel excellence.

Minister of Tourism, Hon. Edmund Bartlett, on the weekend received two major awards for Jamaica from the prestigious World Travel Awards, which is in its 30th year, at the landmark Burj Al Arab in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.  Minister Bartlett also as Founder and Chair of the Global Tourism Resilience and Crisis Management Centre (GTRCMC), a thinktank based in Jamaica, handed out five Global Tourism Resilience Awards to two major Middle East corporations and three countries.

The World Travel Awards (WTA) has named former Tourism Minister of Maldives Dr. Abdulla Mausoom the Travel Personality of the Year. The award was presented to Dr. Mausoom at the World Travel Awards ceremony held at the Burj Al Arab Hotel in Dubai on Friday.

Minister of Tourism, Jamaica, Hon. Edmund Bartlett will be in Dubai, UAE, on the occasion of COP 28, the United Nations Climate Change Conference 2023, with global leaders and governments discussing how to limit and prepare for future climate change. The 28th edition of the summit is being held from 30 November to 12 December 2023.

Submissions will run until 15 March 2024, before they are reviewed by a panel of industry experts. The results follow a year-long search for the world’s leading culinary brands. Votes were cast by culinary industry professionals and the general public, with the nominee gaining the most votes in a category named as the winner.

For 2023, Jamaica’s culinary excellence has been honoured with not one, but two prestigious World Culinary Awards, celebrating multi-category success. Achieving global recognition of the rich and diverse origins of Jamaican cuisine, the island has received the prestigious World Culinary Awards’ Top Caribbean Culinary Destination, while the gastronomic scene of Montego Bay has earned the coveted title of Caribbean’s Best Culinary City Destination.
