I’ve been converting a 2014 Ford Transit Connect into a campervan. While I’ve been covering in detail all the big items I’ve needed, there have been a bunch of little things I’ve added over the course of the build and subsequent test-runs.
All of the campervan accessories I’ve listed below will be worth considering no matter what vehicle you’re using for your conversion. Only one has versions specific to different models of van, the rest are universal.

If your van has lots of windows, or even if it’s just the front few and maybe in the rear doors, blackout shades are definitely worth it. Not only will they add privacy at night, they’ll let you sleep past daybreak.
Depending on your vehicle, there might be options for all three front windows. I picked up some double-sided versions from Amazon that have reflective foil on one side, and black on the other. The idea (the claim, anyway), is in colder weather you have the foil facing inwards to reflect heat back at you. In the hotter weather, the opposite. Not sure how much an effect it has beyond the shades themselves, but it’s a neat idea.
The previous owner of my van tinted the windows, so I haven’t done anything with the rear windows. For the panoramic roof I decided against trying to repair the stock motorized shade (the only non-working accessory on my van), as it was prohibitively expensive. Instead, I got a reflective, retractable shade that accordions closed. It fits almost perfectly and attaches via suction cups.
I talk about these shades in the below video starting at 11:56:
I don’t have the space for a real shower in my van. Those are typically only found in the larger Sprinter-class campervans. However, not every campsite has a shower and after a few days of hiking you might be smelling a little… ripe. Maybe you don’t! I do.
I picked up a solar shower from REI. It was a little expensive, $160, but seemed well made and wasn’t gravity fed (my van’s not that tall). Instead, a foot pump pressurizes the system. It’s all black, the idea being you leave it outside and the sun heats the water. This proved surprisingly true. After a few hours of morning sun I was able to get a luke-warm shower. When you’re done, you can dump out the remaining water and the whole thing collapses down nearly flat.
There are cheaper options that you can hang from trees, the side of your van, and so on. These might suffice if you typically adventure where there are more trees. My first few weeks in my van I was in the desert, and I’m not trying to hang anything from a cactus.
These were a surprisingly big deal. They’re a place to

Skiers are not shy about spending on the sport they love and will go to great lengths to ensure that they have the proper, most up-to-date equipment. In addition to the newest skis, which these days practically ski by themselves, along with high tech boots that fit like a glove, the proper accessories can surely enhance one’s time on the slopes. These accessories, which range from thin heated glove liners to googles that boast a retro 70s look, should be on every skier’s “must have” list.

British skies dazzle when the sun sinks, and there are a handful of dark sky reserves and discovery sites where the lack of light pollution can help stargazing enthusiasts feel that bit closer to the universe. Take a winter stomp across freezing moors or a late-night summer drive up to a remote hilltop to find a sky full of stars with distant planets glittering overhead on clear nights. Often, there’s no need for a telescope either — star clusters such as Pleiades and Hyades, the Milky Way, nebulae and shooting stars can often be seen with the naked eye or with the help of a pair of cheap binoculars and stargazing apps such as Stellarium Mobile.

By American standards, the holiday season starts early in Europe… Halloween isn’t traditionally celebrated here, and Thanksgiving doesn’t exist, so Europeans start thinking ahead to December in mid-October.
South Florida’s Gold Coast is renowned for its blue skies, pristine beaches, and ritzy lifestyle. Anchored by Miami to the south and Palm Beach to the north, this stretch of Atlantic coastline has long been a playground for the rich and famous. Smack dab in the middle of the Gold Coast is Fort Lauderdale. The tropical metropolis is sometimes overlooked for its glitzier neighbors when it comes to vacation locales — the city was once best known as the capital of spring break pilgrimages and, in more recent years, as a popular cruise ship port — but thanks to recent development, a thriving arts and culture community, an evolving culinary scene, and its laid-back vibe, Fort Lauderdale is now one of the state’s must-visit destinations.
JOHN F. KENNEDY International Airport is a beacon from America’s largest city to the world. Located in Queens, New York, not far from Rockaway Beach and Arthur Ashe Stadium, the airport is a major hub for flights across the Atlantic, as well as continental flights in all directions. Due to its urban location, there is no defined “airport hotel village” at JFK like there is for hotels near the Denver airport – but that doesn’t mean there aren’t great hotels near JFK Airport. These are the most convenient JFK Airport hotels with the best amenities and overall experience, whether you’re simply looking for an overnight before or after a long travel day or are in town for a few days and want to stay near the airport.
