When the sun sets in Hong Kong, the sprawling urban metropolis transitions from work to play. Home to over seven million residents from around the globe and more than 260 islands, there's always something going on in the densely packed skyscraper capital of the world.
Arguably the world's best "bizcation" destination, Hong Kong offers endless activities once business travelers close their laptops for the day. With no shortage of upscale boutiques, a broad spectrum of entertainment, and some of Asia's best bars and Michelin-starred restaurants, Hong Kong's diverse nightlife scene is among the best in the world.
Here are the best ways to explore Hong Kong at night, whether you're traveling with others or flying solo.
Start your evening by making connections over dinner at some of Hong Kong's finest establishments featured on Asia's 50 Best Restaurants List.
If you're having trouble deciding where to wine and dine, look no further than The Chairman or Wing, two prime spots for impressing clients or colleagues. At The Chairman, Chef Danny Yip serves what are arguably the highest-quality, organic Cantonese dishes in the city. And at Wing, local chef Vicky Cheng focuses on innovative Chinese cooking with a sumptuous family-style meal, including his signature clay pot rice.
For something a bit more casual, head to Mak's Noodles, a favorite for a steaming bowl of wonton noodle soup. If it's busy, walk over to its long-time rival, Tsim Chai Kee Noodle, right across the street. For traditional roast goose and char siu, get in line with the locals for a spot at Kam's Roast Goose; it's worth the wait.
After dinner, continue the conversation at Coa, voted Asia's #1 cocktail bar, or another hotspot like Darkside. You and your colleagues can also pay a visit to Argo, which serves uniquely-inspired drinks (the welcome drink is a small glass of Champagne garnished with a gummy bear) and offers an ambient setting perfect for informal networking.
To add a bit of mystery into your bizcation, consider exploring Hong Kong's speakeasies. Try the city's first, 001, newly reopened (but just as tricky to find). Or look for The Poet, another cozy cocktail spot hidden on Staunton Street (hint: spot the golden door).
Nothing says "memorable bizcation" like experiencing "A Symphony of Lights" from the best vantage points — the Tsim Sha Tsui Promenade or aboard the historic Dukling boat. Watch this elaborate spectacle of lights, lasers, and LEDs all choreographed to an impressive orchestral soundtrack every evening at 8 p.m. on the Victoria Harbour.
But that's not the only attraction lighting up Hong Kong. From now through October, the highly-anticipated NAKED FLOWERS Exhibition will pop up inside 1881 Heritage, the former
