American Airlines announced more flights in February and March to connect football fans to their favorite teams and transport tech-minded travelers to a major annual mobile communications trade show.
Tickets are now on sale for the additional flights and seats between February 8-12 to Harry Reid International Airport in Las Vegas. American will operate flights from New York City’s John F. Kennedy International Airport using its larger Airbus A321T aircraft.
The carrier will also operate the A321T on select flights to Los Angeles International Airport, offering one-stop lie-flat premium connections to transcontinental destinations, including New York and Boston Logan International Airport.
From Miami International Airport and Philadelphia International Airport, American will operate daily round-trip service using Boeing 787 aircraft for inbound travel on February 8-9 and outbound travel on February 12.
On peak days, the airline will offer more than 150 lie-flat seats to and from Las Vegas. Travelers purchasing an eligible itinerary can also enjoy an elevated preflight experience, including access to exclusive lounges and food and drink experiences.
“Whether you're looking to get the latest on all that's happening with mobile communications or celebrating your team playing in the championship game, we know nothing beats seeing it live,” American Managing Director Jason Reisinger said.
For more tech-minded travelers, American has also added flights to Josep Tarradellas Barcelona-El Prat Airport in Spain for the 2024 edition of the Mobile World Congress.
Connecting customers with just one stop from more than 200 destinations across the United States and the world, the airline will offer more seats to Barcelona from Miami and New York, while operating special service from Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport.
The flights complement new year-round service from Philadelphia to Barcelona, operating daily in time for the conference.
“With more than 6,000 additional seats in and out of Las Vegas and Barcelona, we're adding more convenient ways to connect fans and enthusiasts to experience all the action,” Reisinger continued.

Imagine my surprise when I saw that my flight from New York to San Francisco last night was showing as leaving on time, but my arrival was delayed by 46 minutes. I'd never seen that before, and it turns out the jet stream is making for some very unusual flights lately. My flight ended up getting in only about a half hour late, but it was a long flight. A whopping seven hours from coast to coast, it was longer than trips to Europe I've had. And it's all about the jet stream.

Tens of millions of travelers fly across large oceans annually. It’s routine these days. Main routes, such as between New York’s John F. Kennedy Airport and Heathrow Airport in Hounslow to the west of London, see over a dozen nonstop flights a day in each direction. The massive airports that serve them have multiple terminals connected by their own rail systems to move both people and their luggage. Thousands of workers start shifts before dawn and stay on duty until the last airplane has safely departed. More than 76,000 people work at LHR as flyers know it.
